Thank you for your interest in volunteering at the Canadian National Jigsaw Puzzle Competition. If you have any questions about this form, or about volunteering in general, please email us at canadianjpa@gmail.com.
Our competition is running over two days, Sat. May 3rd and Sun. May 4th. We will need volunteers for a variety of jobs including:
Registration Table / Raffle Table: Participants will be arriving throughout the day to register depending on when their first competition takes place. We will need volunteers to manage the registration table at various intervals.
This task is good for volunteers who:
- prefer shorter shifts. Morning shifts are approximately 1 hour. Mid-day shifts are approximately 30 minutes.
- prefer having the ability to sit.
- are competing but finish fairly fast, so they can make it out to the registration table before the next event registration opens.
Spotters: During the competition we need spotters who will circulate the competition area and when participants are close to finishing, they will hover nearby and record the finishing times. The time cards are then returned promptly to our score keeper. This task is good for volunteers who:
- are comfortable standing and walking. There will be opportunities to sit but regular circulation of the competition area is needed.
- are able to work up to 3 hours consecutively. Short breaks are possible.
- want a front-row view of the competition activity.
- are competing but are willing to help out in rounds that they are not participants in.
Local Errands: The CJPA provides, snacks, drinks and lunch for our volunteers. We are looking for someone who can run a few local errrands both prior to the event and during the day on Saturday and Sunday as needed. This task is good for volunteers who:
- has access to a vehicle and is comfortable driving up to 15 minutes from the venue.
- is available both Saturday and Sunday
- may be able to help with purchasing and delivering of drinks, paper plates, utensils etc (will be fully reimbursed)
- has another friend or family member who may be able to help load and unload
- can be competing at the event, we will schedule qualifying rounds around the errand duties.
