  • 2025 Grant Application for Pro Bono Legal Services Organizations

  • The American College of Bankruptcy Foundation (the “Foundation”) awards grants to legal services organizations whose activities are consistent with the objectives of the mission of the Foundation. Grant awards are made by the Foundation’s Pro Bono Committee (the “Committee”).

     We are excited to now offer grants up to $15,000. The Committee will not ordinarily award grants in excess of $15,000. The Committee may make a few grants of in excess of $15,000 up to $20,000; these are intended for new programs or new initiatives. The recipients will typically be first-time grantees.

    • Please use this application form with no more than two pages of attachments describing the essential aspects of the project. Any attachments must be in at least 12-point font.
    • The application must be signed by an authorized person from the organization and submitted electronically.
    • Only one grant application may be submitted per calendar year by an organization.
    • For programs run jointly with other organizations, only one grant application per program may be submitted per calendar year
    • Before submitting the application, please review the Application Guidelines provided separately and posted on the Foundation’s website at www.americancollegeofbankruptcy.com/foundation.
    • Grant applications must be submitted NO LATER THAN May 15, 2025.
    • If there are any material changes in circumstances for the applicant or for the below program (including changes in Applicant’s financial condition or material financial changes for the program), the Applicant must notify the Committee promptly.
    • Grants awarded will be subject to the conditions set forth on the last page.
    • Organizations who have applied for their EIN/nonprofit status may be approved, but the grant will not be funded until the EIN/nonprofit status is granted, assuming the status is granted and evidence is submitted to the Pro Bono & Grants Committee within the relevant funding year.

    Please provide a budget for the program showing categories of expenses for the program requested, including total cost and the portion to be paid from ACBF grant funds. This Budget should be for the program (not the organization’s budget.)  Please identify other funding sources for the program, and other funding sources if the grant awarded is less than requested. *Please round expenses to the nearest $100.00.

  • INTERIM REPORT ON 2024 GRANT. If your organization received a grant in November 2024 for calendar year 2025, please provide an interim report on the status of the program and expenditure of funds to date. Please note that no applications will be considered if you have outstanding grant reports due. For grants awarded prior to 2025, all grant reports should have been submitted, unless the Committee extended the deadline for your report.
