AWARD: The Probate Estate Planning and Trust Section will honor an individual nominated by their professional peers, for meritorious service to the practice of probate estate and trust law in the State of South Carolina. The honoree will be selected by the Section Selection Committee, which shall consist of the current Section chair, immediate past chair, and chair elect. The recipient will be recognized at an appropriate venue of the Section chair's choosing.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA: The nominee must be:
- Admitted to the South Carolina Bar and in good standing
- Practicing or teaching in the area of probate, estate and trust law for the last 10 years At least 50 percent of the time or, if retired, having actively practiced or taught in the area of probate, estate and trust law at least 50 percent of the time for the 10 years immediately preceding such retirement
- A member of the South Carolina Bar Probate Estate Planning and Trust Section
- Alive at the time nominated
- Public officials and sitting judges or members of the Section Selection Committee are not eligible.
NOMINATION PACKET: To ensure completeness of the nomination packet, it should
- Nomination Form. Prior to submission, please verify that the nominee is eligible for the award for which he or she is being nominated.
- References. Please submit three (3) references and letters of recommendation. Please note that the nominator will serve as one (1) reference. Statements are not required to be on letterhead.
- Nominee's Biography. Please provide this information as it should appear in promotional and event materials.
- Misc. Materials. Materials which demonstrate the nominee's community or legal Contribution, including articles, brochures and other documentation, are welcomed but not required.
