Information on our students' immigration status is required by Alberta Education.

Alberta Education is collecting this personal information pursuant to section 33 (c) of the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FOIP), as the information relates directly to and is necessary to meet its mandate and responsibilities to measure system effectiveness over time, and to the development of policies, programs and services to improve Aboriginal learner success. 

This information will also be used to determine the provincial First Nations, Métis, and Inuit funding allocation provided to school authorities and Alberta Education. Pursuant to section 7 and 8 of the Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA), accredited private schools in Alberta are collecting this information for the purpopses of measuring system effectiveness over time and develop policies, programs, programs and services to improve student success. 

Medications Given at School:

If medication needs to be given at school, you will be required to complete an updated paper copy of a "Consent ot Administer Medication Form".  Medication administered at school must be sent in its original container. Prescriptions need to be labelled correctly, for safety reasons.  If medications change, it is your responsibilty to inform your child's classroom teacher and complete an updated paper copy of "Consent ot Administer Medication Form".

In the event that emergency medical care is required for your child, we need to be prepared with accurate information about your child's health. We ask that you inform us of all medication your child is taking, even if it is administered at home (chart below).  

We understand that it is common for students with severe disabilties to experience behavioral challenges. Please tell us about your child's behaviors, so that we can better support them.

A vital part of the Calgary Quest School program is to provide students with learning opportunities within the community; this includes outings to nearby parks and playgrounds, and walks around the community within a 3 km radius of the school. These local trips are integral to the school's teaching program. 

Walking trips take place during regular school hours, under the direct supervision of teachers, Instructional Assistants, and other school staff. While every staff member takes reasonable steps to prevent harm to our students, there is an inherent degree of risk in the nature of these activities, and injuries may occur without fault on the part of the students, the school, or its employees.  We want to inform you about some common hazards involved with walking trips, please note this list may not include all the hazards for a given trip:

·         Slips, trips and falls;

·         Getting separated from the group;

·         Street crossings;

·         Pre-existing medical conditions and/or allergies;

Please note: for field trips beyond our local area, those requiring vehicle transportation, or those of longer duration, you will be asked to complete a distinct permission form each time. 

Calgary Quest School provides multi-disciplinary therapy services on a consultative basis. The multi-disciplinary therapy team supports students by providing consultative obervations, information, and direction for the classroom teacher to implement. The multi-disciplinary therapy team consists of Occupational Therapy, Speech Language Pathology, and Behavior Support. 

This team may assess, monitor, or provide recommendations for the student while attending Quest. If the student undergoes an assessment, parents can receive a copy of the assessment. 

All Canadians have the right to be educated in French, however, Calgary Quest School does not provide instruction in French. By enrolling your child at Calgary Quest School, you choose to waive your rights to francophone instruction for this school year. 

By giving your consent below, you authorize Calgary Quest School to obtain all pertinent information concerning your child's academic, medical, psychological, and developmental history. This includes, but is not limited to: therapy evaluations and records, medical records, and psychological evaluations. These records will be held in strict confidence by the teachers, staff, and contracted therapists at Calgary Quest School. 

This authorization remains in full force and effect from the date this form is submitted until the completion of your child's education at Calgary Quest School.

 It is the philosophy of Calgary Quest School that every student has the right to an educational program delivered in a safe and healthy environment. 

The following supports outline the ways in which Calgary Quest School ensures the safety of our students and staff. 

1. Physical Prompt: Some students require support to initiate and/or complete an activity. A physical prompt is an additional stimulus that is presented to cue the student to perform a specific task. This is also known as Hand-Over-Hand (HOH) assistance. HOH support may also be used if there is a safety concern and the student needs to be removed from an activity in order to ensure his or her safety, and/or the safety of other students and staff members.
2. Physical Hold or Escort: A physical hold or escort is used when a student's behaviour escalates and becomes unsafe. A hold may be used to protect the student and others in their vicinity. Shall the physical hold be ineffective, the student will be physically escorted away from the area. A minimum of two staff members will be involved in the removal of the student. Physical holds/ escorts are used as a safety measure, never as a punishment or consequence. Staff members are certified in NVCI (Non-Violent Crisis Intervention), a training system designed to give staff the skills to intervene physically during a behavioural crisis in the manner that will keep everyone involved safe from harm. 
3. Calm Room:  Our calm rooms are areas for our students to use when they need a space away from their classroom to regulate, have a moment of quiet, or to calm themselves before returning to the classroom.  The calm room is equipped with a half door to allow staff to supervise the student. The calm room serves as a retreat for students who may need a moment to reset, providing a supportive atmosphere for emotional well-being. 
4. Safe Room: In the rare event that a child's behaviour escalates beyond what can be managed safely, the child may be escorted to a safe room. This room is a secure, padded enclosed area to allow a child to de-escalate safely. The safe room is used as a last resort for safety purposes, never as a punishment or consequence. Children in the safe room are directly supervised at all times by a minimum of one staff member. In every instance that a safe room is used for isolation, reporting is completed, and the child's parents are informed. Use of safe rooms is done in accordance with Alberta Education standards. 
5. Physical Support: The following physical supports have been recommended by our Occupational Therapist. Should any of these supports be implemented, they will be discussed with parents and/or documented in your child's IPP. Physical supports include, but are not limited to: 

Weighted Vest. A weighted vest is a vest with weights sewn inside. The weighted vest provides a constant deep pressure to give the student necessary sensory input to better focus on a required task. A weighted vest is most effective if limited to a 20 minute period. 

Deep Pressure Wrap. A deep pressure wrap takes place with the student lying on a foam wedge. The student is wrapped securely in a blanket to provide therapeutic proprioceptive input. This input is not necessary or effective for all students, however it has been proven to be an effective calming technique, particularly for students with autism. 

Supportive Seating. Supportive seating includes chairs that have trays on them, K-chairs, corner seats with trays, tumble form chairs with chest straps, lap belts, and/or weighted pillows that encourage proper seating. 

Safety Harness. A safety harness is used to physically tether a child to a staff member during walking outings and field trips. They are used for children who do not demonstrate reliable understanding of road safety, or who may wander or run away from their group.

School fees paid by parents may be claimed as medical expenses if certain conditions are met.

A letter written by a medical doctor or registered psychologist must be submitted with your tax return to be eligible. The letter must clearly state that the student has a diagnosis of Autism or other medical condition that requires a specialized educational setting provided by CQS; this letter must be dated prior to enrolment at Quest.

A letter from Calgary Quest School confirming enrolment and services provided, along with school fee receipts, can be provided upon request. Please contact a tax advisor for more information; Calgary Quest School does not provide any guarantees or advice about whether or not you may qualify for this claim. 

Calgary Quest School provides financial aid to a limited number of families to support with tuition fees. We have a limited amount of bursaries available and they only cover a portion of tuition. An annual application is requried to access this program and financial aid is not guaranteed.

School fees for the 2025-2026 school year are:

• $6,000.00 school fee for all students
• $100 non refundable application fee for all applicants

Please note: Calgary Quest School fees are subject to change.  

Fees become due when your child is officially accepted and enrolled for 2025 - 2026. There are two options for school fee payments. 

Option 1: Pay the entire Tuition amount at time of acceptance.

Option 2: Pay half of the tuition within two weeks of when your child is accepted, and the remaining half in six months.
