Presentation Guidelines

Conference Themes
Cultural resources have stories to tell about people – the people who built them, used them and lived in them, and who preserved them. Historic Preservation helps to tell those stories but often the full history and story of a historic place is told through collaboration with others.
We want to hear about what projects you’re working on in the State of New Mexico. Can you provide a “How To” session? What preservation planning efforts have been completed in your community? Do you have a successful project you want to highlight? What efforts has your community made with cultural preservation?
Categories to consider
1. Historic buildings, districts, towns, cities and communities including their stabilization, preservation, modernization and re-purposing.
2. Community connections created and sustained by social, cultural, and historic elements tangential to the built and/or natural environment.
3. Education and information transfer – examples include codes, best practices, regulations, funding.
4. Sustainability and relevance – examples include renewable energy use, environmental protection, climate change response, preventive treatments, inclusiveness, etc.
5. Affordable housing and economic development through historic preservation.
6. Other ideas and concepts you wish to put forward
