Perspective Intérieure Art Contest Application
Key Information
• Dates: January 6–12, 2025 (during Galveston's Art Week)
• Registration Opens: November 25, 2024
• Entry Deadline: December 30, 2024 (No cancellation refunds after December 30)
• Entry Fee: $50
• Eligibility: Open to artists 18 years and older. Participants must be present in Galveston during competition week. (January 6–11, 2025)
• Requirements: Artists must submit a headshot and a biography.
Event Overview
• Welcome & Check-In: Monday, January 6, at 10:00 AM at The Grand 1894 Opera House (Edna's Room). Materials will be stamped during check-in.
• Painting/Drawing Period: January 6–11, starting at Noon.
• Artwork Submission Deadline: Friday, January 10, at Noon. (No exceptions)
• Exhibition & Awards: Saturday, January 11, 6–9 PM, during Art Walk at The Grand 1894 Opera House. (Edna's Room)
Location Selection
• Once artists have applied and paid, they can select a location from a provided list.
• Locations are assigned on a first-come, first-serve basis, and some may accommodate up to two artists.
Prizes
Compete for $2,000 in Prizes!
• First Place: $1,000
• Second Place: $600
• Third Place: $400
• People’s Choice Award: A ribbon and a gift basket
The People’s Choice Award will be voted on by attendees during Art Walk on January 11, 6–9 PM, with the winner announced at the Awards Presentation at 8:00 PM.
Judging Criteria
Artwork will be evaluated based on:
1. Originality
2. Technical Skill
3. Interpretation of the Galveston Theme
4. Overall Impact
Event Schedule
Monday, January 6
10:00 AM: Check-in, Welcome, and Orientation (Edna's Room, The Grand 1894 Opera House). Stamping of materials. 12:00 PM: Official Paint/Draw-out begins.
Friday, January 10
12:00 PM: Deadline to submit artwork (framed, wired, and ready to hang).
Saturday, January 11
1:00–3:00 PM: Artwork judging by local art experts. 6:00–9:00 PM: Public exhibition during Art Walk (Edna's Room). 8:00 PM: Awards Presentation.
Competition Guidelines
• Artists may submit up to three (3) pieces for judging.
• All competition works must be created during the event using officially stamped materials.
• Submitted artwork must:
o Be framed, wired, and ready to hang.
o Have a minimum sale price of $300.
• Unsold artwork may be picked up after the exhibition on January 11 (9:00 PM) or January 12. (10:00 AM)
Exhibition Details
• All submitted artwork will be displayed in Edna's Room at The Grand 1894 Opera House.
• The public will have the opportunity to view and vote for their favorite piece during Art Walk.
• The People’s Choice Award will be announced at the end of the evening.
Additional Rules
• Artists retain the copyright to their work.
• ARTS Downtown GTX reserves the right to photograph artwork for promotional purposes.
• Artwork left unclaimed after 30 days becomes the property of ARTS Downtown GTX.
• Artists are encouraged to carry their own insurance. ARTS Downtown GTX is not responsible for loss
