Candidates for the Office of Bishop must submit to a credit report and background check per ¶ 426 §3 of the 2022 Discipline of the CME Church.

After filling out this Application and the required materials, your signature is required along with the date of the application.

After submission of the materials, and on January 1, 2026, all candidates for a General Office will receive via email a link to the Background Check - Global Link for S2Verify Swifthire.

Candidates must submit to a background and credit check between January 1, 2026, and March 10, 2026.

Note: A background check may take up to 45 days to complete, thus submitting your application by the deadline date allows for time to address possible discrepancies. Delaying the Credit/Background Check process could negatively impact your candidacy.

Disclaimer: Investigations submitted after March 10, 2026 may not allow adequate time to resolve potential disputes prior to the General Conference. Your choice to delay this process may negatively impact your campaign, thus immediate compliance is necessary. Further, these investigations will appear on your credit report as a soft inquiry.
