Award Descriptions
RSPA Intermountain Professional of the Year Award – Recognizes a member who, over a calendar year, has demonstrated exemplary achievement in seven areas, including: RSPA, allied organizations, club achievements, career development, volunteerism, coaching achievements and playing achievements.
RSPA Intermountain Lifetime Achievement Award – Recognizes a member who, over a career, has demonstrated exemplary achievement in seven areas, including: contributions to RSPA and USTA, as a teaching professional, player, and coach; in education, research, and publications; and with other organizations, achievements and contributions.
RSPA Intermountain Star Award – Recognizes the member who has dedicated many years to volunteering in grassroots racquet sports and through initiatives incorporating multicultural and other aspects; bringing racquet sports and sportsmanship to the players they reach. Their giving spirits have made them stars in their own communities.
RSPA Intermountain Industry Excellence Award – Recognizes the member who takes both an altruistic and entrepreneurial attitude toward their job. They use their own resources and those offered by the industry to build programs that bring racquet sports to more people. At the same time, they are successful in growing a racquet sports business.
RSPA Intermountain College Coach of the Year Award – Recognizes the member based on their results as team coaches, however, individual coaches may be considered.
RSPA Intermountain High School Coach of the Year Award – Recognizes the member based on their results as team coaches, however, individual coaches may be considered.
RSPA Intermountain Touring Coach of the Year Award – Recognizes the member who demonstrates excellent work with a playing professional on the ATP World Tour or the WTA Tour and/or touring juniors.
RSPA Intermountain Diversity Award – Recognizes the member who has demonstrated an outstanding ability to unite diverse populations within their community through racquet sports.
RSPA Intermountain Elevate Award – Recognizes a new RSPA Pro, five or less years as a member that, through their teaching and volunteer spirit, has increased opportunities for others to participate in racquet sports. This member exemplifies and emphasizes individual achievement and sportsmanship along with teaching the physical attributes of racquet sports. This member has served the RSPA in one capacity or another and has made a commitment to the grassroots of racquet sports and an indelible impression on his/her community.
RSPA Intermountain Manager of the Year Award (Large and Small Facility) – Recognizes a member or non-member. The nominee does not need to be a general manager by name but must function in the role of a facility manager. The facility itself is not eligible for the award.
RSPA Intermountain Lessons for Life Award – Recognizes the RSPA member who has done the most to raise money for charities through racquet sports events. While the award spotlights individuals who have raised large amounts of money, it also honors those hosting the most creative, original, or unique racquet sports event to raise money for charities. An individual hosting an event raising the most money will not necessarily receive this award.
