    CALL FOR NOMINATIONS FOR THE FOLLOWING BOARD OFFICER POSITIONS
  • To KAD Members:

    For the Kansas Association of the Deaf's 48th Biennial General Business Meeting (GBM) on Saturday, June 21st, 2025, the elections for the KAD Board of Directors will take place as one of the last business section to conduct during the GBM.

    This is your opportunity to nominate a person(s) or yourself to serve in any of the following board positions for the board term 2025-2027. 

    Please submit your nominations by June 1, 2025.

  • The role of the PRESIDENT is as follows:

    The President acts as the principal representative of KAD, with the option to appoint other officers for specific spokesperson duties as situations warrant. This officer shall chair the State Association Meeting and the Board of Directors Meetings, stepping aside only when circumstances prevent their participation. In addition to promoting adherence to KAD's bylaws and maintaining procedural integrity aligned with established parliamentary guidelines, the President also holds responsibility for authorizing expenditures.The President is required to be bonded alongside the Treasurer.

  • The role of the VICE-PRESIDENT is as follows:

    The Vice-President serves at any time the President is unable to serve, or when the office of the President becomes vacant. The Vice-President also is the chairperson of the Law committee.

  • The role of the SECRETARY is as follows:

    The Secretary is responsible for 1) maintaining and keeping current the Articles of Incorporation and Bylaws, 2) the minutes of the State Association Meetings and of the Board of Directors meetings, 3) keeping active and effective communications across various channels and 4) make records available for inspection by members according to organizational policies.

  • The role of the TREASURER is as follows:

    The Treasurer is in charge of all funds of the Association and is responsible for safeguarding the Association’s non-profit status, financial interests, and assets through adherence to legal and fiscal regulations as dictated by the Internal Revenue Service and other relevant authorities, The Treasurer is required to be bonded alongside with the President. Additionally, the Treasurer maintains the membership database and is the chairperson of the Finance Committee.

  • The role of the DEAF UP Board member is as follows:

    The DEAF UP Board Member is in charge of the DEAF UP Scholarship fund. Additionally, The DEAF UP Board member is responsible for any programs that create and support new, emerging, and experienced leaders to meet the Association’s mission.

  • The APPOINTED BOARD MEMBERS #1, #2, and #3 are elected by the new Board of Directors within one month AFTER the State Association Meeting. Submit your interest in advance. 

    The role of an Appointed Board Member is as follows:

    The Appointed Board Members shall serve in a capacity or in capacities as dictated by the board.
