    Q: Who Needs a 1099

    A: Common Guidelines for vendors that require a 1099:

    • At least $600 in Services performed by someone who is not your employee (including parts and materials)
    • Payments to an Attorney of $600 or more
    • At least $600 in Rents paid
    • At least $600 in Prizes and Awards
    • Interest Payments made to individuals and/or vendors

    Q: What Does Davies Allen Need to File 1099 Forms:

    A:  We need the following info for each Vendor that requires a 1099 (preferred format of data is in excel spreadsheet):

    • Vendor's Name / Business Name
    • Vendor's entity type
    • Vendor's Email (not required but preferred)
    • Vendor's SSN/EIN
    • Vendor's Address
    • Amount paid to Vendor in 2024
    • Reason for Vendor's Payment

    The best way to collect personal information from vendors is to collect a completed W-9 form that asks for basic info such as name/business name, address, SSN/EIN & entity type. If you use Davies Allen for ongoing accounting services your Advisory Accountant has already been helping you gather this information and will let you know if we are missing anything.

    Q: What Is The Pricing And Deadlines?

    A: Davies Allen Pricing for 1099s

    • $175 Base fee which includes the first 1099 
    • $20 Each additional 1099
    • This fee includes us filing and delivering the 1099s via mail.

    To avoid any expedited fees (minimum of $20 per 1099), please submit your information to us no later than Wednesday, January 15th.  We WILL NOT be able to meet the deadline on time if we receive your information after Wednesday, January 22nd. We need sufficient time to compile and prepare the data to meet the deadlines for delivery to the recipients. 

    The IRS has ramped up penalties for not filing 1099s. They can charge up to $630 per 1099 not filed.
