Pesticide Certified Applicator Training Session, LSU Burden Botanical Gardens
The Distribution, Status and Management of Native and Invasive Termites in USA. The initial two-hour session will be on rodent management, their health impacts, and inspections. Afterwards we will discuss bed bug management in urban settings, new products, inspections, and best practices. We will then transition to a 4-hour webinar focused on identification, current status, and basic methods of control of subterranean and drywood termites, with particular emphasis on the Formosan subterranean termite, Coptotermes formosanus. The intended audience is the pest control industry in the Southeastern U.S., and in areas, such as California, outside the southeast where Formosan termites are known to exist. This training presentation is an output of the North American Termite Survey working group, supported by the Southern IPM Center. The session is also supported by the UGA GTBOP, LSU Pesticide Safety Office and the Gulf South Vector Collaborative.
