  • Federal Employee Engagement with DSU Associates

    Preview of Terms
  • To comply with U.S. Department of Labor payroll requirements, all interpreters and CART writers must perform Federal assignments as employees (W-2) through DSU Associates. This applies only to Federal work; all Independent Contractor Agreements with DSU remain active for non-Federal jobs.

Upon completing the onboarding process, you will be asked to sign and agree to the terms outlined in this section. Below is a summary of key provisions to help familiarize you with the document:

    Key Points:

Compensation: Equivalent to your Independent Contractor structure but includes wages, benefits, and employer-paid FICA. Hourly rates for Federal jobs include:$4.93/hour Health & Welfare (H&W) benefits (up to 40 hours/week).

    Night/Weekend Pay: +$5/hour.

    Multi-lingual assignments: +$10/hour.

Flexibility: No minimum hours required; you choose assignments. Federal work offers opportunities like recurring VRI services.

Vacation & Holiday Pay: Accrues per hour worked and is paid quarterly.
Minimums & Cancellations: 2-hour minimum for on-site, 1-hour for VRI. Assignments canceled within 48 hours are fully compensated.
    Employment Terms:

Pay periods: 1st–15th and 16th–end of month; paydays on the 7th and 22nd.
Benefits follow the Service Contract Act (SCA), with detailed breakdowns in your official terms letter.

Your role includes maintaining professional ethics, reporting time worked, and bridging communication gaps as interpreters or CART writers. Employment is contingent upon legal proof of work eligibility, U.S. citizenship, and successful background checks.

This structure ensures compliance while maintaining your autonomy and opportunities within DSU. Please reach out with any questions before moving on to the next steps!
