    • Important Dates/Conflicts/Accomodations
    • The Law & Leadership Institute is a program that starts at the beginning of high school and continues until high school graduation with the end-goal of preparing students to be successful leaders in college and the profession of their choosing.

Attendance to each Law & Leadership Institute session is essential. The program is academically rigorous and introduces topics related to law and leadership that are often not taught in other academic settings. There are also long-term projects that can only be accomplished with the participation of all students with each session building on the one that came before.

Accordingly, LLI students are expected to make every attempt to attend all sessions. The Law & Leadership Institute provides dates for all summer and academic year sessions in advance, as well as other important dates like the final statewide showcase and senior recognition events, when applicable.

In the rare case that a student may need to be absent from the program (illness, death in the family, etc.), students will need to contact their local site administrator immediately. Whether an absence will be excused or unexcused will be determined on a case-by-case basis.

    • *Please note: LLI recognizes the importance of learning accommodations in education. While we strive to meet individuals’ needs, it is important to note that our resources are limited, and therefore, we might not be able to provide all of the accommodations currently received.

    • Parent Signature Form
    • Dear Parent/Guardian,

Your child is applying to be part of a very exciting program, the Law & Leadership Institute. This program meets from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday from June 16 through July 18 and will culminate with a statewide event on Saturday, July 19, 2025. Your child will learn about Criminal Law, take field trips, meet attorneys and judges, and perform in a mock trial, all with the goal of developing your child’s academic skills and, ultimately, to start preparing him or her for the rigors of high school and, eventually, college. We make the experience interesting and fun, but it is still a lot of work! We will have high expectations for your child and will work to help your child meet those expectations.

The 2025 Summer Institute is just the beginning! This program will continue all 4 years of high school. Your child will meet approximately 5 Saturdays during the academic year of each year of high school. He or she also will have Summer Institutes each summer until your child walks across the stage at graduation. Your child will complete an internship with an attorney, will receive free SAT test preparation, will develop his or her leadership, writing, critical thinking, public speaking and problem-solving skills, will tour colleges, and will prepare to have a successful college and professional career.

We know you have big dreams for your child, and we want to help make those dreams a reality!
