  • Project Description

    The Culturally Responsive Victim Services (CRVS) Grant Program supports culturally specific activities for survivors of all forms of violence from culturally specific populations. The CRVS grant program will support culturally specific organizations that provide strategic, culturally specific programming that addresses violence prevention and intervention in their communities.  The intended populations for support and assistance via these funds are victims of all forms of violence. The CRVS Grant Program is funded by the Office for Victims of Crime, Office of Justice Programs, U.S. Department of Justice under Grant Number 15POVC-21-GK-00845-NONF.
  • Ujima

    "Ujima," means Collective Work and Responsibility. This principle is critical to addressing violence against Black women in the United States. Ujima, The National Center on Violence Against Women in the Black Community, mobilizes the Black community and allies to strengthen our families, recognizing that the safety and viability of our families is connected to the health and well-being of our individual neighborhoods and communities at large.
  • SCESA

    The National Organization of Sisters of Color Ending Sexual Assault (SCESA) is an advocacy organization of Women of Color dedicated to working with our communities to create a just society in which all Women of Color are able to live healthy lives free of violence. SCESA’s purpose is to give voice and develop action strategies that incorporate and address the experiences and realities of Women of Color and Communities of Color.
  • "The Center"

    Ujima and SCESA have partnered to form the National Center for Culturally Responsive Victim Services (“The Center”). Funded by the Office for Victims of Crime, The Center serves as a resource center for culturally specific responses that serve culturally specific communities disproportionately impacted by all forms of crime.
  • Our Goals

    Our goals at "The Center" are to: 1) Promote racial equity in victim services for communities of color, 2)Provide technical assistance and training for culturally-specific organizations, and 3) Build the capacity and infrastructure of culturally-specific victim services in communities of color
  • Funding

    The Center looks forward to funding culturally specific community-based organizations (CBOs) and non-government organizations (NGO)s, that assist victims of crime by providing strategic, culturally specific services and approaches to victim services and support.
  • The Center will award 15 grants total in either the amount of $50,000 or $100,000 to culturally specific organizations

  • Purpose of the Sub-Awards

    Through this funding, The Center aims to achieve the following goals:

    1) Strengthen Organizational Capacity to provide support to survivors

    2) Support Survivors through Targeted and Direct Services

    3) Foster Community Engagement and Awareness

    4) Promote Program Innovation and Evaluation

    5) Expand Strategic Partnerships and Network Development

  • Expectations for Successful Applications

    Successful applicants are expected to submit financial and programmatic documentation to ensure proper spending and compliance with program goals.

    These expectations include:

    1) monthly financial reporting and reimbursement requests

    2) Meetings with the center

    3) Monitoring and Evaluation
