2025 Woodstock Film Festival Volunteer Code of Conduct
Here is our Code of Conduct which we ask every applicant to read and sign, regardless of hire status. You will receive a call late summer once you have completed the application process.
MISSION STATEMENT:
It takes a collaborative team effort to run a festival – and we’re so appreciative of our volunteers, without whom we would not succeed! The Woodstock Film Festival supports bold, creative, independent filmmaking/makers and we encourage the open exchange of ideas and perspectives with a free-flowing discourse anchored in mutual respect. But all team members should follow the golden rule: we are not here to sell ourselves or our work, but celebrate and support the work of others! Full MISSION STATEMENT HERE.
Earnest volunteering can lead to valuable professional experiences, enhanced resumes, job references, and is rewarded with old and new INCENTIVES!
This year, the WFF is requiring that volunteers sign up for a minimum of three shifts. Onboarding is a lot of work for staff, so please consider this when signing up!
If you cancel a volunteer shift last minute, you may forfeit your free movie screening vouchers/perks (barring medical, pet, transport, and weather emergencies), so please consider how much work you create for staff if you do cancel.
CODE OF CONDUCT:
We strive for a harassment-free, safe, and respectful environment that protects our diverse community members from conduct that is inappropriate, disruptive, abusive, or threatening.
As a WFF Volunteer, you are committed to being:
- Inclusive and respectful of people of every race, ethnicity, gender identity/expression, disability, sexual orientation, nationality, religion, age, physical appearance and body size, language spoken, and immigration or economic status by refraining from demeaning, discriminatory, or harassing behavior or speech.
- Intentional with your words by abstaining from hate speech or actions of any kind.
- Mindful of the personal space, respecting boundaries of others by avoiding unwelcome sexual attention, harassment, stalking, or inappropriate physical contact of any kind.
- Gracious to all by refraining from disruption of screenings, sessions, talks, or other events
by not engaging in abuse or intimidation related to race, gender, position, status, or wealth.
- Respectful of individual expression and intellectual property of others, acknowledging that others may have a similar or the same story idea or concept as yours, or from phishing or pirating the work of others.
- Conscious of the power you hold while working as a volunteer in this community of successful guest filmmakers, producers and actors, Refraining from selling yourself or your own work by trying to garner favor, be hired, or to sell/pitch your script or movie to them. The point of you being here is to gain professional skills, and join a greater film community while seeing amazing films (should you take us up on our free film vouchers per shift), and if one of our guests asks you to connect outside the festival without coercion, by all means, make an industry connection! But you are not to ask, pursue, or stalk.
- Considerate of yours and others’ well-being by staying home when you are not feeling well.
If you experience or witness any disrespectful or inappropriate conduct, please report to one of the following (this information will also be on the Call Sheet):
