  • Role Requirements

    Peer assessors are designed to reflect and respect the broad diversity of Brampton and its artistic communities, including but not limited to: artistic discipline, gender, sexuality, age, religion, beliefs, nation, physical, neurological, and Mad identities etc.

    Levels of commitment will vary, though meetings are typically conducted virtually. Assessors will be expected to consider applications, review support material meet with peers and BAO staff, and contribute to thoughtful conversations around the arts.

    Assessors are typically asked to commit to the below. Schedules are determined based on committee availability, and may include evenings, weekdays, and weekends.

    • One to two weeks to read and evaluate applications or support materials online as needed.
    • Up to two days of virtual assessment meetings (up to four hours each day).

    Please Note: We are unable to work with all individuals nominated on our committees.

    Completion of this form does not guarantee you will be contacted by BAO to participate, but adds you to our pool of jurors.

    QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIRED SKILLS

    Peers: Artists and arts professionals active in Brampton’s artistic communities with experience, skills, and knowledge directly relevant to the arts sector.

    Community Members: Individuals with an appreciation for the arts (any discipline) who actively attend arts events, performances and presentations.

    ADDITIONAL SKILLS

    Relevant skills, experience, and knowledge that will accommodate the range of applicants to be juried.

    • An open, honest and generous spirit, exceptional listening skills and a willingness and ability to embrace change, complexity and different viewpoints.
    • An understanding and awareness of Brampton and region, and an insight into our social and cultural climate- including the opportunities and barriers that exist.
    • The respect of peers in the community.
    • The ability to function well within a committee structure.
