Eligibility*

The organisation is a legal and eligible entity.The organisation is an unincorporated association that agrees to the primary contact on the application entering into an agreement on behalf of the Association. This means that if your grant application is approved, the primary contact will assume all legal liability and become personally liable for the delivery of the funded agreement, expenditure of funds and other associated obligations arising from the grant agreement.

Eligibility - in addition to one of the above, the organisation must:*

have a minimum of 40% of volunteers working for your organisation.be a not-for-profit organisation.have an Australian Business Number (ABN) or be willing to provide a Statement by Supplier Form (reason for not quoting ABN).Have a bank account with an Australian financial institution in the name of the organisation applying.

Grants of between $1,000 and $5,000 will be available to assist eligible not-for-profit community organisations that rely on volunteers. Grants can be used to purchase communication or insurance items and/or purchase items for the main purpose of supporting volunteer cohorts and volunteer-run activities as specified in the Grant Opportunity Guidelines.

EOI's close on 2nd April 2026; after which time they will be reviewed by a Community Consultation Committee.

Successful EOI's will be nominated by the MP to the Department of Social Services. Successful organisations will be invited by The Department to officially apply for a Volunteer Grant from 18th May 2026 and these must be completed by 29th May 2026.

The Department will assess applications and advise of approval in October 2026. Grant funding able to be spent from October 2026-October 2027.
