Code of Conduct for Collegiate Contacts & Coaches
We have asked collegiate coaches to adhere to the Code of Conduct below using our platform to ensure a safe and supportive environment for young athletes. We would ask the same of you.
1. Respectful and Appropriate Communication
- Professionalism: Always communicate with athletes in a respectful and appropriate manner.
- Inclusive Communication: When reaching out to athletes, ALWAYS include their family members, guardians, and an additional college contact in all communications. Avoid private messaging via social media; instead, move conversations to group emails and text messages. This promotes transparency and ensures that all parties are informed.
- Boundaries: Avoid any form of communication that could be perceived as intrusive, inappropriate, or harassing. Do not engage in personal conversations that are unrelated to the athlete's interest in your program.
2. Respecting Athlete Autonomy
- Decision-Making: Respect each athlete's right to make their own decisions regarding their choice of college or program. Provide information and support without applying undue pressure or influence.
- Non-Persistence: If an athlete does not respond after three (3) attempts to contact them, refrain from sending additional messages. Continuously reaching out may be perceived as harassment.
3. Commitment to Athlete Safety
- SafeSport Compliance: We are dedicated to following the U.S. Center for SafeSport's mission to end sexual, physical, and emotional abuse and misconduct in amateur sports.
- Policy Adherence: You agree to adhere to athlete safety policies and participate in reinforcing abuse prevention and accountability measures.
- Mandatory Reporting: If you witness or become aware of any inappropriate behavior or violations of SafeSport guidelines, you are obligated to report it promptly.
4. Reporting Inappropriate Behavior
- How to Report: If you feel there is a situation that is inappropriate or violates SafeSport guidelines, please report it immediately.
- Reporting Link: Submit your report through the following link: U.S. Center for SafeSport Reporting Portal
- Confidentiality: All reports will be handled with the utmost confidentiality to protect the privacy of all individuals involved.
5. Data Privacy and Confidentiality
- Protecting Personal Information: You agree to keep all personal and sensitive information of athletes confidential. This includes names, contact details, academic records, and any other personal data obtained through the portal.
- Use of Information: Personal information should only be used for the purpose of recruiting and communicating with the athlete and their family regarding collegiate powerlifting opportunities.
- Data Sharing Prohibition: Do not share, distribute, or sell any athlete's personal information to third parties without explicit consent from the athlete and their legal guardians.
- Secure Communication: Ensure that all communications and data storage comply with applicable data protection laws and best practices to prevent unauthorized access or breaches.
- Data Retention: Dispose of personal data securely when it is no longer needed for recruiting purposes, in accordance with data protection regulations.
