$1000 Scholarship Application Packet
SCHOLARSHIP GUIDELINES
This scholarship may be used at any four-year Historically Black College or University (Trade, Technical and Cosmetology Schools are ineligible.) Scholarship funds are disbursed directly to the student.
DEADLINE: Completed application and all supporting materials are due by 11:59pm on Saturday, October 10, 2025.
APPLICANT ELIGIBILTY: A high school senior graduating from school in Tarrant County, Grand Prairie, TX, or the surrounding DFW Metroplex. To be eligible, the student must plan to attend a four-year Historically Black College or University (HBCU).

SCHOLARSHIP & SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS:
Scholarship Requirements
- Minimum of 3.0 cumulative GPA on a 4.0 scale
- Completed online scholarship application
- Original Essay
- Two letters of recommendation
- An Official High School transcript emailed to academic@arlingtoneducation.org
- Attend the YES Summit on Saturday, November 1, 2025.

Submission Requirements - Before you begin the application have the following items available to upload:
- Two letters of recommendation from anyone (not related to you) who can speak to your college readiness, leadership ability within a club, organization, UIL group, or involvement with a community service project.
- Original Essay
- Topic: "The Importance of HBCUs in the 21st century and why I chose to attend one."
- Rules: The essay must be written in your voice. The use of AI or ChatGPT is strictly forbidden. Essays utilizing this format/software will be disqualified.
- Guidelines: 500 word minimum
