  • Drive, Chip and Putt Volunteer Sign-Up

  • Drive, Chip and Putt is a joint initiative founded in 2013 by the Masters Tournament, United States Golf Association and The PGA of America. Drive, Chip and Putt is a free nationwide junior golf (ages 7-15) development competition aimed at growing the game by focusing on the three fundamental skills employed in golf. Participants will complete 3 Drives, 3 Chips, and 3 Putts aiming to accumulate the most points overall.

    The Gateway Section is seeking volunteers to assist in the execution of these qualifiers within our area. Please complete the form below if you are interested in helping with any local Drive, Chip and Putt Qualifier!

  • Description of Volunteer Responsibilites

  • Drive Skill Station: 

    DESCRIPTION
    **Shift length is subject to change depending on player registration. Gateway PGA will follow up on the final end time closer to the date**

    Drive Skill Details: each participant will complete 3 drives on the Drive grid. The grid is 40 yards wide and 300 yards long. Juniors will earn points by their ball coming to rest inside the grid lines. The longer the drive, the more points are rewarded! 

    Volunteer Roles & Expectations:

    (2) Cart Drivers/Ball Spotters – (must have a driver’s license and possess good vision to spot balls in the air).  Each driver/spotter will be given a golf cart & will park it on the outside of the grid before each attempt. This volunteer will also be responsible for identifying if a ball is out or in bounds and removing all scored balls that come to rest within the grid.

    (1) Announcer & Range Finder Administrator – (must be experienced with a range finder and able to quickly & accurately shoot targets from far distances) - will be responsible for notifying the participants as to the rules of the station, announcing their names, and determining the distance of each drive inside the grid by using the range finder.

    (1) Scorer – Will be responsible for recording each participant's drive scores by communicating with the Ranger Finder Administrator. The scorer will also need to assist the Range Finder Administrator with organizing the participants.

  • Chip Skill Station:

    Chip Skill Details: Each participant will attempt three chips at a designated position approximately 15 yards away from the scoring hole. Juniors will earn points if their ball comes to rest inside the scoring rings around the hole.

    Volunteer assignments & expectations: 

    (1-2) Scorers: Explain the rules to each participant, identify where exactly their ball comes to rest on the putting green, and record the appropriate scores for each of their 3 chips.

  • Putt Skill Station: 

    DESCRIPTION

    Putt Skill Details: Each participant will attempt one putt from the distances of 6ft, 15ft, and 30ft away.  Juniors will earn points if their ball comes to rest inside the scoring rings drawn around the hole.

    Volunteer assignments & expectations: 

    (1-2) Scorers: Explain the rules to each participant, identify where exactly their ball comes to rest on the putting green, and record the appropriate scores for each of their 3 putts.

  • General Volunteer: 

    DESCRIPTION
    **Shift length is subject to change depending on player registration. Gateway PGA will follow on the final end time closer to the date**

    General volunteers will be place in additional area where extra support is needed for that day (i.e. extra help at the skill stations, escorting participants between stations, registration help, etc.)
