About the event: this is a FREE Legislative Advocacy Training for youth, on Saturday, Jan 31, 2026 10 am – 2 pm. We will grow our knowledge around Washington’s legislative process (how bills become law!) and prepare youth to participate confidently in legislative actions which they can apply to civic engagement year-round.
This interactive training includes:
- An overview of WA’s legislature, with engaging demonstrations and peer discussion
- Workshops on year-round advocacy steps, like writing op-eds and submitting public comments
- Exploration of real climate policies in the 2026 legislative session
- “Mock” exercises on bill-writing and advocacy, building confidence to navigate real-life interactions with law-makers
- Take-home tools for effective advocacy
Accessibility and Inclusion: Our priority is inclusivity, ensuring everyone interested can join us in this vital effort. This training is FREE, lunch is included, and the building is ADA-accessible.
