Volunteer Roles Overview
JA Classroom Volunteer
Classroom volunteers deliver interactive, pre-designed lessons to students, focusing on financial literacy, work readiness, and entrepreneurship. Volunteers bridge school and career worlds by sharing personal experiences to make lessons relevant, engaging, and impactful. Time commitment: Generally, 1x a week for 5-7 weeks. Each classroom visit is 30-45 minutes (location options vary throughout Eastern Iowa).
JA Career Speaker Series®
A volunteer guest speaker visits with local students (either in a classroom or event such as JA Career Inspire) and shares information about their career, work, and education experience. The speaker may bring props, work samples, or other visuals to help engage students. Time commitment: This varies by event. It can range anywhere from 1-5 hours. We would partner you with a schedule that is best for you. (location options vary throughout Eastern Iowa).
JA BizTown® Mobile
Volunteers are assigned to one of our BizTown storefronts to help students understand and apply concepts like budgeting, business operations, and teamwork. Volunteers support students as they balance work tasks with personal finance responsibilities (like paying bills and managing their checkbooks). Time commitment: Generally 6 hours or from 9AM-1:45PM (location options vary throughout Eastern Iowa).
JA Dream Accelerator™
Volunteers guide students through each of the interactives career exploration opportunities and share their own real-life experiences to encourage them to think deeply about their future. Time commitment: Generally 3.5 hours or from 9:30AM-12:00PM in Iowa City.
JA Finance Park® Mobile
As a volunteer, you'll guide middle and high school students through a hands-on, real-world simulation where they learn to manage personal finances, make informed decisions, and develop critical life skills. No special budgeting expertise or preparation is necessary and thorough training is provided for all volunteers! Time commitment: Generally 4 hours or from 8:30AM-12:15PM (location options vary throughout Eastern Iowa).
JA Inspire®
JA Inspire® connects industry professionals with students for hands-on career exploration and work readiness. Volunteers act as event guides and help students explore local industries. Career Exhibitors represent your company, showcasing what you do by providing & demonstrating a hands-on activity for students to learn by doing.
JA Stock Market Challenge®
Volunteers do not provide teams with trade advice but instead serve as accessible, engaging, and motivational guides rotating from team to team. Training is provided prior to the session and is included in the stated timeframe. Time commitment: Generally 3 hours or from 8AM - 11AM or 5PM-8PM. The event is scheduled for April 2027.

ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF JA VOLUNTEER POLICIES
Before participating in any Junior Achievement (JA) digital programs or events, each JA volunteer (and parent/guardian if the volunteer is under 18) must review the JA Digital Media Policy, the JA Volunteer Media Release and Consent, and the JA Volunteer Conduct Standards and sign each form and/or initial and sign below to confirm receipt and agreement. Current versions of each of these documents are attached and/or are available below. These documents are intended to ensure that proper standards are followed, appropriate consents and permissions are obtained, and intellectual property and other interests of JA and its students are protected, as outlined below.
JA Digital Media Policy
The JA Digital Media Policy sets forth expectations and standards for interactions among users of JA digital platforms, including JA volunteers and JA students. The Policy addresses conduct standards for online learning, digital interactions involving students, use of personal social media, unauthorized use of photos and videos, and use of official JA profiles. By initialing this document and signing this Acknowledgement, you are confirming you have read the JA Digital Media Policy and you agree to and accept its terms and conditions.
JA Volunteer Media Release and Consent
The JA Volunteer Media Release and Consent authorizes JA to use your name, image, and likeness as a JA volunteer and to collect and use your personal information in accordance with the Privacy Policy of Junior Achievement USA. You are also agreeing to grant JA a license to use any materials or content you create and/or supply as a JA volunteer for JA’s use with its programs, and you are confirming that such materials do not infringe or violate the rights of anyone else. By initialing this document and signing this Acknowledgement, you are confirming you have read the JA Volunteer Media Release and Consent and you agree to and accept its terms and conditions.
JA Volunteer Conduct Standards
The JA Volunteer Conduct Standards set forth the conduct and behavior expectations JA has of all JA volunteers. These standards exist to ensure JA volunteers maintain healthy and appropriate relationships with JA students and protect the integrity of JA’s programs. You are agreeing not to claim ownership or other rights in JA programs and materials or in work product created by or with students in connection with your service as a volunteer. Lastly, you are certifying that you have never been charged with any violent crime or any crime involving minors. By initialing this document and signing this Acknowledgement, you are confirming you have read the JA Volunteer Conduct Standards and you agree to and accept its terms and conditions.
