    • Volunteer Roles Overview 
    • JA Classroom Volunteer

      Classroom volunteers deliver interactive, pre-designed lessons to students, focusing on financial literacy, work readiness, and entrepreneurship. Volunteers bridge school and career worlds by sharing personal experiences to make lessons relevant, engaging, and impactful. Time commitment: Generally, 1x a week for 5-7 weeks. Each classroom visit is 30-45 minutes (location options vary throughout Eastern Iowa).
    • JA BizTown® Mobile

      Volunteers are assigned to one of our BizTown storefronts to help students understand and apply concepts like budgeting, business operations, and teamwork. Volunteers support students as they balance work tasks with personal finance responsibilities (like paying bills and managing their checkbooks). Time commitment: Generally 6 hours or from 9AM-1:45PM (location options vary throughout Eastern Iowa).
    • JA Finance Park® Mobile

      As a volunteer, you'll guide middle and high school students through a hands-on, real-world simulation where they learn to manage personal finances, make informed decisions, and develop critical life skills. No special budgeting expertise or preparation is necessary and thorough training is provided for all volunteers! Time commitment: Generally 4 hours or from 8:30AM-12:15PM (location options vary throughout Eastern Iowa).
    • JA Dream Accelerator™

      Volunteers guide students through each of the interactives career exploration opportunities and share their own real-life experiences to encourage them to think deeply about their future. Time commitment: Generally 3.5 hours or from 9:30AM-12:00PM in Iowa City.
    • JA Career Speaker Series®

      A volunteer guest speaker visits with local students (either in a classroom or event such as JA Career Inspire) and shares information about their career, work, and education experience. The speaker may bring props, work samples, or other visuals to help engage students. Time commitment: This varies by event. It can range anywhere from 1-5 hours. We would partner you with a schedule that is best for you. (location options vary throughout Eastern Iowa).
    • JA Stock Market Challenge®

      Volunteers do not provide teams with trade advice but instead serve as accessible, engaging, and motivational guides rotating from team to team. Training is provided prior to the session and is included in the stated timeframe. Time commitment: Generally 3 hours or from 8AM - 11AM, 3PM-6PM or 5PM-8PM April 22 or April 23 in Cedar Rapids or 8AM - 11AM in Cedar Falls.
