Duct-Taped Treasures Auction Logo
  • Duct-Taped Treasures Auction

  • Inspired by the infamous banana taped to a wall, the Biggs Museum is thrilled to announce the most absurd and entertaining fundraiser of the season: “Duct-Taped Treasures.” To close out our fundraising year with a laugh, we’ll auction off six exclusive, one-of-a-kind items—each duct-taped to the wall in our lobby. These items may not be the work of prominent artists, but they do promise to spark conversation, intrigue, and lots of chuckles. If history has taught us anything, it’s that duct tape and random objects are a surprisingly effective combination to capture hearts and wallets alike.

While these works may not hang in prestigious galleries, the funds raised will make a real difference. All proceeds will support the museum’s operations, including upcoming community-driven programs and exhibitions that make art accessible to all.

Note: This Auction will run from December 10 - 20. Any auction items resulting in a tie bid will go to the first bidder. Starting Bids are listed for each item.

  • Framed Staff Holiday Photo

  • Image-4
  • A heartwarming (and slightly awkward) snapshot of museum history, this framed gem captures the Biggs staff in all their holiday glory. With its duct tape-enhanced border, it’s a timeless testament to teamwork, tinsel, and questionable sweater choices.

  • Slightly Weathered "Do Not Climb" Signs

  • Image-8
  • Equal parts nostalgic and functional, these battle-worn signs once bravely protected art installations from rogue climbers. Now, they’re ready to add a touch of rustic humor to your home—or serve as a stern reminder to friends who can’t keep their hands to themselves.

  • In-Gallery Headphones

  • Image-6
  • These trusty headphones have serenaded ears with countless art-inspired soundscapes and museum-approved jams. Slightly scuffed but undeniably cultured, they’re a must-have for anyone who appreciates audio journeys through artistic genius. Batteries not included (or necessary).

  • Archival Gloves – Used Once

  • Image-7
  • These gloves have touched history—literally. A single, careful use has granted them the aura of greatness, and now they’re ready to grace your collection. Pair them with your fanciest outfit for an evening of elegance, or just frame them as the ultimate museum flex.

  • Packing Tape – Preserver of Priceless Masterpieces

  • Image-9
  • The unsung hero of art transportation, this roll of packing tape has held together treasures worth more than your house. Now reimagined as "taped tape," it’s a conceptual piece that invites viewers to ponder the nature of preservation. Très meta, très chic.

  • Previous Exhibition Catalogue – Gallery Copy

  • Image-40
  • Well-loved and thoroughly thumbed, this catalogue has seen more action than a museum docent on a school field trip. Each rifled page tells a story of curious visitors and their insatiable need for artful knowledge (and finger smudges). A true literary artifact.
