Entrance Requirements:
While ALA does not require formal admissions testing, we require scholars to complete the Legacy Quilt and Admissions Portfolio. Our Admissions Committee will consider recent standardized testing and feedback from the interview committee.
Admissions Portfolio
Math: 5 Exams or Quizzes (graded)
English: 5 Essays or writing samples (graded or with feedback)
Science: 2 Exams and 2 Labs (graded and with feedback)
World Language: 4 Exams (be sure that these include a writing sample and include teacher feedback) Students will need to submit an oral response to WL prompt and upload it into the drive.
History: 3 Exams and one writing sample (graded and with feedback)

What is the purpose of education?
Poem Assignment: Read the following poem, scholars and parents must write a response of 500 words or more to the prompts listed below.
1. What do you think is the main message or theme of the poem? How does it relate to your own experiences?
2. Can you relate any part of the poem to your own life? Share a story or experience that connects with the poem.
3. Write a short story, or create a poem inspired by what you read.
INTERVIEW. A member of the ALA administration team will conduct individual interviews with the scholar and the parent.
LETTERS OF RECCOMENDATION. ALA requires scholars to submit two letters of application with their applications. One letter should support the scholar's academic prowess, and the other should be written by a community member or someone who can attest to the scholar's interests outside the classroom.
MEDICAL CLEARANCE. ALA requires all scholars to have a yearly physical exam. For new scholars, medical clearance for their doctor or school doctor is required.
