• Parent / Carer Training Sign-up

    Please complete the following information to confirm your registration to any of our Parent / Carer Training Sessions which will be held online on Zoom. These sessions are not recorded, but we share the slides after each session. Our training sessions are aimed at parents and carers of children and young people with additional needs.
  • Vocabulary Development

    This session will explore strategies for supporting your child to develop their vocabulary including addressing word finding difficulties.

  • Demand Avoidance or Desire for Autonomy?

    This session aims to: a) outline the basic strategies needed to support someone with PDA, b) look at the experience of a young man who's grown up with PDA and c) include plenty of time to ask questions and talk through specific experiences.

  • Being Understood: Using Visuals to Support Communication

    This session will explore a range of different visuals and how they can be used to support attention, understanding and expressive communication.

  • Singing as a Tool for Calm and Confidence

    We will be exploring experimenting with using our voice to develop body awareness and tune into how we are feeling, and using our whole bodies to sing to help with emotional regulation, relaxation and confidence.

  • Getting Myself Organised

    This session will focus on sharing strategies on supporting your child to develop their organisation skills. We will explore different barriers that may prevent your child from being able to plan and organise themselves.

  • Therapeutic Techniques - Boundaries

    This session will explore how parents can talk about the concept of boundaries with their children and strategies parents can teach their children as they learn to set their own boundaries and respect others.

  • Handwriting Skills

    This session will explore what the foundational skills for handwriting are and how we support our children with their letter formations, handwriting grip, placing their letters on the line and fluency of writing.

  • An Introduction to Social Stories and Chat Cartoons

    This session will explore how you can use social stories and chat cartoons to support your child’s communication. 

  • Using Visuals to Support Communication 

    This session will explore a range of different visuals and how they can be used to support attention, understanding and expressive communication.

  • Dressing Skills

    This session will explore different barriers that may prevent your child from participating and consider strategies to try with your child to help them to become more independent.

  • Speech Sounds

    This session will explore the process of supporting your child with speech sound difficulties. 

  • Sensory Processing

    This session will be looking at how we process sensory information, what it looks like to have difficulties in sensory processing, and discussing some helpful tips for you to try at home.

  • Navigating Meltdowns

    This session will be exploring what causes meltdowns, the importance of staying connected to your child, and a toolkit of techniques to manage the meltdown.

  • Supporting school transitions

    This session will look at things to consider that can make transitions to secondary school tricky, and how to support your child through them.

  • Autism and Anxiety

    It can sometimes feel like your child goes from calm to meltdown immediately without any warning - this training session seeks to identify early red flags for emotional dysregulation and will give you strategies to support your child through this.
