  • Saucy Lukes Craft BBQ and PS I Love AZ are teaming up to bring you The West Valley Barbecue Festival.

    WHEN- January 10th

    TIME- 12pm-6pm

    Rules for West Valley BBQ Fest Competition:
    This is a St. Louis style rib competition.
    **$235 buy-in** Includes your $85 health permit that we will submit on your behalf.
    At least 4 racks of St. Louis style ribs will be supplied to each team. The more racks you can cook, the better your chances for winning the People's Choice trophy. The ribs are the property of West Valley BBQ Fest and will be submitted for tasting to judges and guests. We will be selling raffle tickets for those ribs. They will be graded on taste, tenderness/texture, and appearance.
    There will be cash prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place (amounts TBD).
    There will be trophies for 1st-5th place plus a People's Choice winner.

    Each pit master gets a 10x10 area plus room for smokers behind the tent.

    This competition is designed for first-time, backyard Barbecuers, as well as seasoned
    comp teams.
    This is a fully immersive experience for the guests. Guests must turn in a ticket to receive a rib. One ticket per rib. We encourage engagement with the guests.

    Team size is from 1 to 5 people, one head pit master and 4 chefs.
    This is a double blind rib turn in.
    Turn in boxes will be supplied and absolutely no garnishes allowed in the box.

    Stipulations for cookers:
    There is no onsite electricity, bring your own generator or power source.
    Teams are allowed to use any grill: electric, wood, charcoal, etc.

    Each team needs a 3 compartment sink (3 bus tubs) and a handwash station (Link Attached) to meet health requirements (any questions, just reach out to Saucy Luke) Handwash station - https://a.co/d/cLpCqop

    Schedule:
    6am venue access
    7am receive St. Louis style ribs
    12pm open to public
    2pm submit ribs to judges (6 bones)
    2:05pm submission window for judges closes
    2:15 open pit for sampling for peoples choice with remaining bones while supplies last
    4pm announce winners
    6pm event ends, teams allowed to begin packing

    *MUST STAY THE ENTIRE EVENT, NO PACKING UP EARLY EVEN IF SOLD OUT*

    No outside alcohol is permitted in the pit. There will be a keg of saddle mountain beer for the pit masters, courtesy of saddle mountain brewery.

    The judge pannel will be comprised of celebrity guest judges and local restauranteurs, stay tuned for the announcement.
