    Description:

    Join the City of Lawrence’s efforts to provide a safe and warm space for individuals experiencing homelessness during the cold winter months. The Winter Emergency Overflow Shelter is activated as needed when temperatures drop to dangerous levels. Volunteers are critical to the success of this initiative, ensuring that those in need receive shelter, comfort, and support during the most challenging weather conditions.

     
    Volunteer Shifts:

       •   8:00 PM – Midnight

       •   Midnight – 4:00 AM

       •   4:00 AM – 8:00 AM

     Commitment: Flexible. Volunteers will be contacted when the shelter is activated, based on weather conditions.

    How to Help:

    Your role will involve welcoming guests, assisting with setup, maintaining a safe and respectful environment, and offering support during their stay. No prior experience is necessary; training will be provided.
