Dr. Paul D. Henion (1963 – 2014) was a developmental biologist who studied neural crest biology using zebrafish as a model. This merit-based travel award was established to honor his memory and provides $500 travel assistance to the Society for Developmental Biology Annual Meeting for post-candidacy graduate students who have demonstrated research excellence in any area of developmental biology and are giving an oral or poster presentation at the meeting. SDB membership is required and special consideration may be given to students doing research in neural crest or stem cell biology. The number of awards will depend on funds available and may vary from year to year. Applicants must submit a cover letter (1 page or less) that highlights the significance of their research within the field of developmental biology, their CV, and their submitted abstract on this form.
