Hello, welcome to the Food Issues Census Survey!
What is the Food Issues Census Survey?
The Food Issues Census is a project to understand the organisations and communities working in and organising around key food-related issues across the UK. We want to know what you’re working on, what issues you feel are most important, how you’re funded, and what you need in order to meet the challenges of today.
Crucially, this is an opportunity for you to share your priorities with funders.
By gathering and analysing responses, we aim to:
- Create a shared picture of the sector.
- Provide actionable insights to funders and organisations.
- Highlight the work and impact of diverse civil society organisations in food and farming.
The insights that we gather will be available as both raw data and a detailed report. This will not only be used by funders, but will be useful to participating organisations - to support your decision-making, advocacy, partnerships and funding proposals.
By mapping out the different projects, niches, needs and resources across the four UK nations, we hope to provide fertile ground for connections and collaborations where these don’t yet exist.
This third Food Issues Census builds off the back of previous censuses conducted in 2011 and 2017.
Is this survey for you?
If your organisation is involved in any not-for-profit or public interest work related to food – whether that’s local food-growing, addressing hunger, or anything in between – we’d love for you to participate. The survey is open to organisations based in the UK or those receiving UK charitable funding. If you're unsure, please check our FAQs.
Note:
- This survey is for organisations or one-off initiatives, not individual projects within larger organisations.
- Only one response per organisation is needed, so please discuss internally who is best placed to complete it.
How long will it take?
The survey will take 30 to 60 minutes to complete. You’ll need access to:
- Your most recent annual or financial accounts
- Information about your organisation’s staff and food-related activities
You can start the survey now and finish it later by clicking 'Save' at the bottom of any page.
If you find it helpful to also view the full set of questions and multiple choice answers, you can do so here.
Is there any support available to participate?
We are committed to bringing in the experiences of a genuinely diverse range of organisations to this project. To address barriers to participation, we have established the Food Issues Census Inclusion Fund. Please read more about the fund and how you can apply here.
