  • Our Survival Day (OSD) is an Indigenous-led community event, providing a safe and culturally empowering space for First Nations people and their allies, to gather on January 26th.

    The day’s focus is on celebrating the survival, continued growth, and access to Indigenous culture, with a strong focus on the underlying values of Our Songlines and its founder; Kayla Cartledge.

    Pattern mind. Self-determination. Reciprocity. Courage. Ancient Knowledge. Education. Authenticity. Community.

    We are guided by these values with the planning of this event. Focusing on prioritising First Nations businesses, artists, educators, suppliers as well as using cultural and values-aligned organisations.

                                All gas appliances and cylinders must comply with Energy Safe Victoria’s Code of Practice for the safe use of LP Gas at Public Events in Victoria.

                                A copy of this is available at https://www.esv.vic.gov.au/community-safety/energy-safety-guides/safety-work/events

                                Site holders using LP Gas are also required to complete the Gas Safety Checklist within this document. Completed documents will be collected from site holders on the morning of the festival.

                              • Terms and Conditions

                                All Participants applicants must read and accept the Terms & Conditions before submitting their application for consideration. If you are successful, Our Survival Day reserves the right to withdraw your application at any time, if you do not meet the Terms & Conditions.
                              • Site Details

                                • Our Survival Day is open to the public from 11.00am - 4.00pm on Sunday 26 Janurary, 2025. Stallholders must be open and trading during these times.
                                • Stallholders are not permitted to pack up before this time.
                                • Event operating times (including set up and pack down hours) are subject to change and are at the discretion of Event Organisers. These times will be confirmed on acceptance of successful stallholder applications.
                                • All stallholders will be provided with an allocated site, this site will be set at the discretion of the Event
                                • Organiser and cannot be moved or swapped without prior agreement.
                                • Stallholders are not permitted outside their demised site for promoting or selling of their services.
                                • For all food/drink vendors, a Statement of Trade (SOT) must be submitted to Glenelg Shire Council through Foodtrader.
                                • Sale or giveaways of balloons of any description, including helium are strictly prohibited at Hooked On Portland.
                                • Stallholders must comply with the requirements of any legislation applicable to them, including the current Occupational Health and Safety Act.
                                • Stallholders agree that their image and/or voice as recorded, photographed or filmed during the festival may be broadcast or published for the purposes of Our Survival Day promotion.
                                • The consumption of alcohol and smoking by stallholders is prohibited.
                                • No pets or domestic animals are permitted on site (unless written permission is granted by the Event Organiser).
                                • On the day of Our Survival Day, should the Event Organiser deem that a stallholder's material, goods or services are, or his or her behaviour is, inconsistent with desired outcomes for the event, event staff may direct the stallholder to leave the festival. A stallholder must comply with any such direction.
                                • All stallholders are obliged to keep their stall and surrounds clean and tidy throughout the event.
                                • All stallholders must consider using packaging materials that are environmentally biodegradable for all forms of food/beverage containers and giveaways.

                                 

                                Application Process

                                • Completion of an Application Form does not guarantee a site at Our Survival Day.
                                • Stallholders must have current Public Liability Insurance (of a minimum of $20 million). This should state “Anywhere in Australia” or specifically “Our Survuval Day”. The PLI must be under the application business name applying for Hooked On Portland (or provide supporting documentation advising the application name will be covered under the insured business name).
                                • Our Songlines reserves the right to refund in full any payments received.
                                • No refunds will be given for non-attendance. Our Songlines accepts no responsibility for adverse weather and no refunds will be given for this reason.
                                • No refunds will be given to applications for cancellation.
                                • Stallholder fees must be paid in full prior to the event date.
                                • Our Songlines reserves the right to deny a stallholder access to the event site if the relevant fees have not been paid in full.
                                • Successful stallholders may be required to complete an event induction in the lead up to the event.

                                Code of Conduct

                                • Stallholders are to represent themselves, their site and the festival in a professional, safe and courteous manner and to not engage in behaviour that brings the reputation of Our Songlines, Our Survival Day and other stall holders in disrepute.
                                • Stallholders must respond cooperatively to any direction given by Event Management in relation to the operation and occupation of their stall, vehicle, equipment and goods and any direction of a security or safety nature.

                                 

                                Stallholder Compliance 

                                • Stallholders who fail to comply with the agreed terms and conditions and code of conduct may have their application revoked and all future applications withdraw.

                                Please do not send payment with this form.
                                A Tax Invoice will be sent for payment once your application is received. Your attendance will be confirmed once payment has been made.

                                 

                                Temporary Food Permit

                                To obtain approval to operate a temporary or mobile food premises, you must register or notify Mornington Peninsula Shire Council through Foodtrader. Foodtrader can be accessed by visiting: https://foodtrader.vic.gov.au/

                                Public and Product Liability

                                All participating groups are required to have Public Liability Insurance (at least 20 million dollars cover) for the Festival. A copy of your Public Liability - Certificate of Currency should be included with your application form.

                              • Confirmation of Aboriginality

                                A Confirmation of Aboriginality is an official letter that is approved by a local Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation. You may be asked to provide Confirmation of Aboriginality when wanting to access Indigenous-specific services and programs.

                                By submitting this form I/we acknowledge that:

                                I Acknowledge receipt of Our Survival Day terms and conditions code of conduct on behalf my organisation and their employees and agree to abide by the conditions therein and understand should I fail to comply with the agreed terms and conditions and code of conduct may have their application revoked and all future applications withdrawn.

                                All necessary permits will be in place, on acceptance of the Expression of Interest, prior to operating Our Survival Day 2025 event.

                                Submitting an Expression of Interest is a request only and does not guarantee that you will be successful in obtaining a stall. Stalls are selected at the discretion of Our Survival Day.
