Chili Cook-Off Details

Entry Fee: $40 per participant (A portion of the entry fee will benefit a local non-profit.)

What’s Provided:

A 10x10 space for cooking and setup.

What to Bring:

Your own canopy/tent, table, chairs, and cooking supplies.
Please note: Electricity is NOT provided.
Water will be available onsite but no direct hookups.

Important Information:

Spots will be assigned the week before the event to help with layout planning. If you have a specific preference, please notify the organizer in advance.
Set up on the event day is between 7:00 AM and 9:00 AM.

Chili Requirements:

All contestants must prepare 5 gallons of chili for the People’s Choice tasting.

Chili Preparation - I am aware that each team is responsible for making a minimum of 5 gallons per chili recipe. Chili prep may be done prior to the event. I am also aware that chili must be cooked at the contest site on the morning of the event (beginning at 7 am), and that I am responsible for supplying all of my own ingredients, cooking tools, tents, decorations, tables, chairs, signage, etc.

Ingredients - I am aware that I am responsible for posting, on my table/tent, the ingredients of my chili(s) so consumers are aware of any possible ingredients they may have allergies to.

Safety - I am aware that I am to keep my chili(s) at a safe temperature per SC-DHEC guidelines to prevent possible bacteria contamination, etc. I am also aware that I am responsible for the public's health and that I am to take all safety precautions in terms of cooking, cleaning, storing and serving chili samples to the public, including maintaining a hand washing station with water and bleach.

Set Up - I understand that the contest site is the , and that I am to arrive as early as 7am and NO LATER THAN 9:00am to unload my supplies at my 10' X 10' space, and then remove my car from the event site no later than 9am. I understand that if I arrive after 9:00 am, I will NOT be allowed to drive on the site and will have to carry my supplies from my parking spot. Please arrive early!

Breakdown - I understand that the competition ends at 3:00pm, and the award ceremony will begin at 3:15-4 on the main stage. My team can begin the breakdown/ cleanup of my site at 3pm, but cannot drive onto the event site until enough attendees have left the event site and organizers believe it is safe to do so. I understand I must remove ALL of my belongings as soon as possible.

Cleanup - I agree to bring my own trash can with trash bags, and agree NOT to leave any trash, chili or other items at the contest site (If you have leftover chili, you must take it with you!) If event organizers find a competitor that does not follow these rules, they will not be allowed to enter in future events.
