This survey seeks to gather insights into the current state of the artist-run landscape in Canada. Your input will help paint a clearer picture of the challenges, opportunities, and evolving dynamics within this sector of the arts community.

Your responses to this survey will remain completely anonymous. All data collected will be aggregated and analyzed without any identifying information. Individual responses will not be linked to you in any way, ensuring your organization's privacy is fully protected. Every question is completely optional. Answer only what you feel comfortable sharing.

Question 1: Are you currently experiencing financial difficulties?
Question 2: If not currently, do you project you will likely experience a deficit in the near future?
Question 3: If you are currently experiencing a financial deficit, please indicate the severity.
Question 4: Do you receive operational/core funding?
Question 5: Please indicate where you receive the bulk of your funding.
Question 6: Have you recently had changes made to your funding amounts?
Question 7: Do you have to rely on project grants to fund some operations?
Question 8: Have you recently been deemed ineligible or unsuccessful for a grant you have historically had success in securing?
Question 9: If you answered yes to question 8, how has this affected your organization?
Question 10: Does arts advocacy constitute part of your mission or mandate?
Question 11: If you answered yes to the above question, do you feel that advocacy requires a lot of capacity for your organization?
Question 12: Do you feel that advocacy campaigns can lead to substantial change for peers, artists, or arts organizations? Explain why or why not.
Question 13: How many folks in your organization identify as artists (including staff and volunteers)?
Question 14: As an organization, do you feel you have enough capacity to fulfill your mandate?
Question 15: What resources would most significantly impact your organization’s capacity (in fulfilling either your operations, your mandate, etc.)? For example, this could be increased access to other centres if you are located in a rural area, increased funding for your operations or projects, increased access to funding, etc.
Question 16: Do you value/benefit from having a network or community of other centres around you? If you do not have access to such a network, do you feel that gaining this would be beneficial for your organization?
Question 17: How do you envision better connections and networking in the artist-run centre landscape, both in Canada and on the international level? Your answer can include examples of events, platforms, or any other communication strategies.
