  • Parent/Guardian Commitment

  • The nature of our co-operative school is that, although our teachers are paid employees who are responsible for the program planning, instruction, and supervision of students, the overall direction, administration, and decision-making for the school are a collective responsibility of its membership. As such, all families of children attending the school are responsible for participating in some aspects of its daily function and direction.

To enroll in Royal City Cooperative Preschool, you must read and acknowledge your understanding of the following commitments:

    · Personnel Assignment: This is the job that you agree to perform for the year.  This job is assigned at the beginning of the school year by the personnel chair.  The goal is to match the job with your abilities and interests, with consideration given to your schedule. The time commitment for each assignment varies, but most jobs are flexible and can be completed outside of school hours.

    ·  General Membership Meetings:  General membership meetings are held twice annually (fall and spring), to vote on current issues of the school and financial direction.  Attendance at these meetings is mandatory, with dates provided well in advance.

    · Spring Carnival Participation: All families are required to commit one hour of volunteer time to help run our annual Spring Carnival.

    Duty Check

A post-dated duty cheque of $250.00 will be requested before your child begins school. This duty cheque will only be cashed in the event that the above co-operative duties are not met by the end of the school year, or before withdrawal. Otherwise, it will be returned to you or destroyed.  Please be sure that you have checks well in advance of the September start.

    Meeting Cheque (AGM Attendance Committment)

An AGM Attendance Commitment cheque of $100.  We need you at our AGM meetings to help with decisions and plans for our preschool.  We can’t run a cooperative preschool without you!  If you attend both AGM meetings your cheque will be returned to you or destroyed.

Withdrawal Policy: The withdrawal policy requires that written notice must be given to the membership chair 14 days in advance of the withdrawal of a child from the school. Further details can be found in the Parent Handbook, or in the policies section of our website.

  • Health and Development

Is is very important that you answer the following questions honestly. Please be truthful in your assessment of your child's needs and abilities. Minimalizing your child's abilities, may lead to an unsafe environment for us to care for them. Truthfully explaining about your child can give us the opportunity to prepare and make sure we have extra staff if necessary so their start in the program can be a success. If your child starts with us and we don't have supports in place we may be unable to care for them safely. Thank you for your understanding.

  • Please note that if your child requires the administration of any medication or treatment at school, or if your child has an anaphylactic allergy, you will be required to complete additional forms.

Each family is also required to complete and submit immunization data as required by public health https://www.wdgpublichealth.ca/your-kids/vaccination, and to provide a copy of your child's immunization record at our Registration Night in September.

If your child is not immunized you are required to complete one of the following forms:

Statement of Conscience Belief or Statement of Medical Exemption  These forms are available on our website under the "Parents tab and then the "Forms" tab.

You will be contacted with further information on these requirements before your child starts preschool.

  • Consent for Communication and Publicity

  • Royal City Cooperative Preschool uses photographs to document and share the learning and activities happening during class time and at special events. You must consent to the purposes you permit these photographs to be used for.

  • I consent to the use of my child's photograph for the following purposes:

  • PLEASE NOTE: If you take personal photos in the preschool or at special events, or are sent any photos taken at the school, we request that sharing on social media sites be restricted to photos of your own child(ren) only, and/or children for whom you have received direct parental permission to share photos of.

  • Cooperative Duty Preferences

  • Since RCCP is a cooperative preschool, every family is assigned a role/duty for each child/class enrolled. We attempt to match you with a cooperative duty that best suits your interests and time schedule. Each role varies in the time commitment required, but many can be completed outside of school hours.

Click here to view the job descriptions for each cooperative duty.

Then, please indicate the kinds of roles that you are interested in on the list below.

As some roles are in higher demand than others, selecting as many potential roles as possible is in your best interest, and will aid the Board of Directors in making good matches.

Please note: Every effort will be made to accommodate your job preferences, but every role needs to be filled, and therefore these preferences are NOT a guarantee of your assignment. The role you are assigned will be communicated to you at Registration Night in September.

NEW and IMPORTANT - We are considering offering a "buy-out" of your coop duty for the year.  These would be limited to a certain amount and the cost has not been determined.  Please indicate in the following question whether you would be interested in taking advantage of this option.

  • The Board of Directors is a group of volunteers who each take on a leadership role for the school, and meet together one evening a month to make decisions. This is a rewarding opportunity to be involved in the direction of our school, and an excellent addition to any resume.

Please indicate if you might be interested in joining the Board of Directors or learning more about any of the following positions, or feel free to contact us at rccpmail@gmail.com if you'd like to discuss it further.
