Austin Silva was raised in Lake Highlands and he was the oldest of our three children. Austin went home to the Lord on June 15, 2017, at 17 years old. He left a huge legacy that included on his high school resume - Top Ten in class, Commended National Merit Finalist, National Hispanic Scholar, Captain of Varsity Tennis, Wrangler, and VP of NHS. In the community, he was a soccer ref for years, taught preschool Sunday school, was heavily involved in Watermark Student ministries and served at Camp Barnabas. Most importantly, Austin was known for his faithfulness to friends and family. He was an encourager and had a fun spirit to share. His faith in Jesus guided him each day as he tried to do his best, love others well and give glory to God in the process.
This scholarship is an effort to encourage students at Lake Highlands in the value of character and faith in Christ as needed most in life. The scholarship total will be $10,000 and the minimum number of recipients will be two. We are grateful for our Lake Highlands community and we are thankful to give support back. Sincerely, Suzanne, David, Samantha & Charlie Silva. We ask you to hear more of Austin’s story at livelikeaustin.org.
