JUROR, AWARDS, & RECEPTION

Exhibition juror Joan Potter Thomas is a mixed media artist focusing in fiber and textiles as well as miniature art. Thomas received her BA from the University of Michigan and her MA from the College of William and Mary. Her award-winning work has been exhibited across the country and featured in several national publications.

Though not required, fiber art that shares histories, stories, themes, fantasies and/or memories will be given greater consideration during the jury process. 

Prizes for 1st – 4th Place ($650 total) and Honorable Mentions will be awarded at 6:15 pm during a free public reception on Friday, May 30, 5 - 8 pm.

ELIGIBILITY, SUBMISSION, & ARTWORK REQUIREMENTS

Artists, 18 and over, in the continental U.S may submit to 3 original works created with fiber and/or utilize traditional fiber art techniques within the last 3 years, and not previously exhibited at the Northville Art House. The maximum size is 60” in any direction.

Artwork is required to be for sale. Artists will be notified by email of any sales. A W-9 form is required for any sales. Payments made within 30 days with a 35% commission.

Deadline: Monday, March 31, 11:59 PM EST.

Artwork must be in excellent condition, and be ready for installation on the wall, floor, or a pedestal. Framed works should hang with wire and hooks. No sawtooth hangers. Submit alternatives for consideration to exhibits@northvillearthouse.org.

Artists must provide equipment for 3D works including mannequins, rods, dowels, and other mounting hardware. The gallery will provide pedestals.

Notification of Acceptance: Monday, April 28, by 5:00 PM EST.

DELIVERY, SHIPMENT & PICK-UP INFORMATION

Artwork drop-off time is Sunday, May 18 and Monday, May 19, 12 – 2 pm.

Shipped artwork should arrive by Monday, May 19, 12 pm. with a required pre-paid return label and any special unpacking and/or installation instructions. Send tracking number to exhibits@northvillearthouse.org.

All costs, including packing, shipping, and liability for damage, are the artist’s responsibility.

Unsold artwork pick-up is on Sunday, June 29 and Monday, June 30, 12 – 2 pm. Artists may authorize a representative to pick-up art. Art not picked up after 30 days will be considered abandoned and become the property of Northville Art House Inc.

Artwork will be packed in the same or similar materials and shipped by Tuesday, July 1.

Submission to the Stories in Stitches juried fabric art exhibition shall constitute an agreement to comply with all conditions set forth in this call for entry.
