Join parks and recreation leaders from across Canada at the Canadian Inclusive Green Spaces Symposium: Enhancing Access to Municipal Parks in Canada. Please complete the below form January 13, 2025 by 5pm to register your interest.
  • Please read the following information before completing the Expression of Interest.

    Background:
The Canadian Parks & Recreation Association (CPRA) and Saskatchewan Parks & Recreation Association (SPRA) are organizing the national symposium in partnership with Park People and the Canadian Parks Council, with support from Parks Canada.

As a provincial/territorial member of CPRA, Recreation Nova Scotia can nominate up to five (5) key leaders from the province to join this important dialogue.

    Symposium Overview:
The Canadian Inclusive Green Spaces Spaces Symposium: Enhancing Access to Municipal Parks in Canada will take place in Saskatoon, SK, from June 11-13, 2025.

The event aims to unite leaders and innovators across Canada to discuss and share best practices for advancing equity, diversity, inclusion, and decolonization (EDID) in urban and municipal parks. Together, we aim to foster a national community of practice that empowers our sector to enhance access for all communities, especially those traditionally underserved by our green spaces.

    Who is eligible:

We seek leaders in the parks and recreation sector, especially those passionate about access to urban parks and green space. This may include municipal park managers, community advocates, Indigenous knowledge holders, or others committed to inclusive parks and recreation.

    What's included:

The Symposium is by invitation only. There are no registration fees to attend, and meals and other costs related to the event will also be covered for delegates. However, delegates (or employers) are responsible for travel and accommodation costs as well as any additional on-site costs.

    Your commitment:
Recreation Nova Scotia is excited to nominate up to five leaders from the province to participate in this national dialogue. As a condition of attending, delegates must commit to actively sharing knowledge and insights gained from the Symposium in partnership with RNS.

This could include presenting to peers, collaborating on sector resources, and participating in a national and/or provincial 'community of practice.' It's important to ensure that the Symposium's learnings inspire growth in Nova Scotia and have a far-reaching impact.

    Next steps:
A committee comprised of Recreation Nova Scotia staff and board will review all those interested in attending the Symposium. Based on the information provided below and the Symposium's overall objectives, we will select up to five individuals from NS to attend, announced by January 17, 2025. We commit to contacting all those who complete the form below.
