• Purpose

  • Avfuel Corporation of Ann Arbor, Michigan, has established funds available for the purpose of furthering aviation education. These funds will be distributed under the name of the “Avfuel Pilot-in-Training Scholarship.” 

    The Avfuel Pilot-in-Training Scholarship was designed to award three students with funds to use toward furthering their aviation education. The scholarship will be in the amounts of $1,500, $1,000 and $500. These funds may be used for, but not limited to, the following areas: flight training, educational tuition fees, and a new license.

    A maximum of three Avfuel Pilot-in-Training Scholarships will be awarded for each calendar year.

    Avfuel reserves the right to not award any scholarship in a given year if no sufficient application is received. 

  • Requirements | What's Inside the Avfuel Pilot-in-Training Application

  • Once you begin the application, you will not be able to save your progress, stop and restart. Before you begin, please ensure you have the following information at the ready. For your convenience, the essay questions are also listed below, in the event you’d like to prepare your responses in advance.

    ·         Expected Certificate Completion Date (optional)

    ·         Current (if applicable) or Expected Flight School (optional)

    ·         Resume or CV to Upload (optional)

    ·         Work Experience (most recent required, but up to three optional; if no experience to share, write “Not Applicable” in the required form fields)

    ·         Essay Questions: Answer each of the following questions in 1000 characters or less

                     o  Why do you aspire to become an aviator, how do you plan to utilize the scholarship money, and what are your ultimate career goals?

                     o  How will your educational efforts enhance your potential contribution to the aviation industry and/or enrich your community?

  • Application

  • All eligible applicants must complete and submit this application by 11:59 p.m. EDT on September 4, 2025, to be accepted.

  • Selection Criteria

  • Avfuel Corporation will make the selection of the awarded recipients based solely on the answers of the application packet. Semi-finalists may be invited to a personal interview by staff members of Avfuel Corporation and industry representatives who will make the final selection. The scholarship recipients and applicants will be notified. 

  • Payment of Scholarships

  • The scholarships will be distributed by check. The check will be made payable to the recipient and the educational institution of the recipient’s choice. The check must be endorsed by both and must be used for the purposes of furthering the recipient’s aviation education. The 2025 scholarships must be redeemed by September 01, 2026.

    Recipients must provide Avfuel Corporation with a detailed description of how the funds will be used.

    1. Applicant must not yet have a pilot's license.
    2. Applicant must demonstrate an interest in aviation education and achieving a pilot's license.
    3. Applicant must complete all information in application packet.
    4. Avfuel/Avflight employees and/or their relatives are not eligible.

Therefore, it is important to answer all questions as completely as possible. Avfuel Corporation reserves the right to review the conditions and procedures, and to make changes at any time, including termination of the Scholarship Program.
