1. Period of Agreement
This Agreement commences on the 1st of January, or the date of signing if later, and finishes on the 31st of December 2025, unless replaced prior to the finishing date or terminated earlier pursuant to this Agreement.
2. Purpose
The Player has been selected for a Table Tennis New Zealand National Squad and/or New Zealand Team and by signing this agreement confirms selection in the TTNZ National Squad and/or NZ Team and agrees to all TTNZ requirements as set out in this agreement.
3. Terms of Agreement
Rules and Codes of Conduct:
3.1 The Player agrees to be bound by and to comply with all of TTNZ’s Constitution and Policies.
3.2 The Player agrees to be bound by and comply with the Terms of Participation of the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) Group rules & agreement; ITTF Statutes, World Table Tennis (WTT) Handbook WTT Series and Feeder Series, WTT Youth Series Handbook (if applicable) or any other applicable policy of the International Table Tennis Federation Group.
4. General Responsibilities
During the term of this Agreement the Player will:
4.1 Strictly abide by the terms and conditions of this Agreement.
4.2 Agree to provide an annual Individual Performance Plan (IPP) for approval by TTNZ.
4.3 Attend all training camps and activities designated by TTNZ as a requirement of New Zealand National Squad and/or New Zealand Team membership, unless reasons for non-attendance have been communicated in writing to TTNZ with sufficient notice and accepted by TTNZ.
4.4 Comply in a cooperative manner with all directions of TTNZ’s appointed Coaches and Managers of the New Zealand National Squad and/or New Zealand Team.
4.5 Familiarise themselves with the World Anti Doping Agency (WADA) Prohibited List and the Sport Integrity Commission Athlete Rules and Rights and consult with TTNZ if they have any doubts about what constitutes a doping practice.
4.6 Complete the Sport Integrity Commission Clean Sport Quiz and Anti Doping Education annually and submit the certificates to TTNZ.
4.7 Abide by the World Anti Doping Agency WADA Anti-Doping Code, cooperate with any sample collection required, and abide by any decision or sanction.
4.8 Adhere to any sponsorship arrangements made by TTNZ. Any individual player sponsorship agreement must include a clause that TTNZ sponsorship arrangements always take precedence.
4.9 Keep TTNZ informed of any circumstances which may preclude availability for any National or International tournament and respond to availability requests by the deadlines set.
4.10 Complete the annual TTNZ Medical & Contact Information form and inform TTNZ of medications and/or medical conditions, and provide, if requested to do so, verification from a doctor.
4.11 Advise TTNZ if a Therapeutic Use Exemption (TUE) is required.
4.12 Promptly inform TTNZ in writing of any injury or medical condition (including physical or mental health) which may materially affect the Player’s performance when representing New Zealand and agree to provide a professional medical opinion on their condition when requested.
4.13 Upon reasonable request by TTNZ, provide information and preferred photos for TTNZ to compile a player profile for the TTNZ website or promotional purposes, and/or a media request.
4.14 Pay any non-refundable trip deposits to TTNZ by requested dates. Requests for pre-payments may be made by TTNZ for any fees including, but not limited to; travel, hospitality, insurance, entry, banking and contingency fees of an associated tournament. Payments are mandatory to secure a place in any travelling team or squad. The Player acknowledges that, in the case of withdrawal, any refund will be reduced by the value of the non-refundable deposit and any irrecoverable costs incurred by TTNZ.
4.15 Be solely liable for any fines and/or costs associated with breaching any International Table Tennis Federation or World Table Tennis regulations, as outlined in the respective Handbooks.
4.16 Supply TTNZ with a copy of their passport, citizenship and visa details at the time of signing the agreement for their first NZ National Squad selection and/or NZ Team selection.
4.17 Agree to be police vetted by TTNZ and undergo any other risk assessment as required.
5. Player Obligations - Misconduct
The Player acknowledges and agrees that:
5.1 I will be subject to the management and directives of TTNZ in relation to all activities relating to my inclusion in the NZ National Squad and/or any NZ Team I may be selected in, and/or any international tournament I am endorsed to participate in. These include but are not limited to:
5.1.1 While representing New Zealand always act in a sensible and respectful manner that reflects well on New Zealand to all observers. This means always showing respect for authority, property, peers, and opponents, and refraining from making derogatory remarks in public.
5.1.2 They will respect the laws, customs and cultural expectations of the country(ies) visited.
5.1.3 They will follow the training requirements and protocols established by the appointed National Coach(es) while part of the NZ National Squad and/or NZ team.
5.1.4 They will refrain from drinking alcohol while the team is engaged in competition. In the case of junior teams, all players will refrain from drinking alcohol, regardless of age.
5.1.5 They will refrain from taking any illegal substance(s) at any time.
5.1.6 They must wear the New Zealand Uniform as directed and outlined in the TTNZ Uniform Policy.
5.1.7 They will support all team members throughout active competition as directed by Team Management.
5.1.8 They will always respond promptly to any queries or meeting requests by TTNZ.
5.1.9 They will respect the selection process(es) and criteria as published by TTNZ.
5.1.10 TTNZ may give notice of required participation in certain major domestic events by squad members. Failure to play, without written exemption from TTNZ, may lead to the player being replaced in the squad.
5.1.11 TTNZ reserves the right to deem the Player unavailable for selection consideration while a disciplinary investigation is proceeding.
5.1.12 Any accompanying person(s) request to support a player at a tournament must be submitted to TTNZ for consideration of endorsement by TTNZ. Any accompanying person must meet all police vetting and TTNZ Policy requirements.
5.1.13 The selection of a player to any NZ Team does not automatically mean that the Player will actively compete at any given tournament.
6. Player Consent of Imagery and Footage
6.1 The Player agrees and consents to TTNZ using images and footage of the Player engaged in table tennis activities, to promote table tennis, TTNZ, TTNZ activities and the Player.
7. Travel Risk
7.1 The Player acknowledges and agrees that TTNZ is not liable in any way whatsoever for any costs or expenses associated with any international tournament and/or camp, including any unforeseen expenses relating to, but not limited to; travel delays, lost or damaged luggage or property, flight changes, flight cancellations, accommodation expenses, tournament fees, natural disasters, epidemic or pandemic (including COVID-related government actions or directives, quarantine requirements, COVID vaccinations or host government requirements), war, medical or health issues, including health diagnoses, treatment or repatriation.
7.2 The entry of a Player to a World Table Tennis (WTT) tournament is not confirmed by World Table Tennis (WTT) until after the entry close date. Acceptance of any entries is at their sole discretion. TTNZ recommends the Player and/or parent and/or accompanying person does not make any logistical arrangements until after the Player is granted ‘confirmed entry’ status by World Table Tennis (WTT). TTNZ is not liable for any costs associated with decisions made by the Player and/or parent and/or accompanying person if they incur expenditure on their own accord by making any logistical arrangements prior to the player having ‘confirmed entry’.
7.3 The Player must ensure that their participation in any international tournament and/or training camp is sufficiently protected by their own medical, travel and/or other appropriate insurance, and that all reasonable measures have been taken to protect themselves from the risks reasonably foreseeable. Travel insurance is mandatory for all players participating in WTT tournaments, at the player’s expense.
7.4 The Player acknowledges and agrees that they are solely responsible for all property that they take to any international activity (including the activity venue, the place of accommodation, and the modes of transport), and must ensure sufficient protection through their own insurance.
7.5 The Player acknowledges and agrees that they are solely responsible for all costs to remedy damage, breakage and/or spillage in accommodation or playing venues, if caused by the Player, and must ensure sufficient protection through their own insurance.
7.6 To the fullest extent possible under applicable laws, the Player irrevocably releases TTNZ (and their officers, employees, volunteers, contractors or agents) from any liability for any loss, injury, illness or damage (including COVID-19 related health risk and other bodily injury) that the Player may suffer in relation to their participation in any international activity. The Player must ensure sufficient protection through their own insurance.
7.7 If TTNZ initiates a misconduct investigation into the Player’s conduct while the Player is overseas for an international tournament or training camp, the Player acknowledges and agrees that:
7.7.1 They may be directed by TTNZ to return to New Zealand or their country of residence at any time; and
7.7.2 They must abide by any such direction by TTNZ; and
7.7.3 They must cover all costs or losses associated with an early return including, but not limited to; flights, accommodation expenses and cancellation fees. TTNZ will not be liable in any way whatsoever for any such costs or losses.
8 Supervision of Minors
8.1 TTNZ takes the health, safety and well-being of our players seriously. Please familiarise yourself with all TTNZ’s child protection and safe-guarding policies and procedures. If a minor (under 18) attends any international team or individual tournament regardless of the location, adequate adult supervision is mandatory. Adequate adult supervision options include:
8.1.1 A police-vetted and Board-endorsed TTNZ coach and/or team manager; or
8.1.2 An accompanying person, either a parent or an approved guardian who has Board endorsement to supervise their minor/child. If the group has minors of more than one family, Board endorsement and police vetting are mandatory for all accompanying persons.
9 Enforcement of the Agreement
9.1 TTNZ may impose further conditions to those contained in this Agreement, subject to 10 days written notice; and
9.2 Failure to comply with this Agreement may result in the removal of the Player from the National Squad and/or NZ Team, and/or any other sanction TTNZ deems appropriate.
