PNPG BBFL Article Submission Form

Calling all authors in pediatric nutrition to submit articles to the Pediatric Nutrition Practice Group Building Block for Life! If you would like to submit a research article, review, or new research for peer reviewed, website publication, please use the following submission link to complete the process.

Some authors may be eligible to receive $500 total if the article is selected to be a Continuing Education Provider Unit (CPEU) and will be recognized in the PNPG monthly news briefs.

Eligibility Criteria:

1. At least one author is required to be a registered dietitian nutritionist or dietetic technician registered.
2. First author or other authors will have a primary role in the research (i.e. second author or senior author) and manuscript development of a publication describing research applied to pediatric nutrition and/or maternal and child health.
3. If the article is selected, the authors must complete the author agreement form and agree to the deadlines for edits throughout the publication process. Articles goes through a rigorous editorial process by two BBFL editors and a content expert. Authors are expected to complete editing within 2-3 weeks often 2-3 times prior to publication. The total time to publication is approximately 8-12 weeks.

Article Requirements:

o Full article with abstract
o All lines should be numbered
o No author names to appear on the manuscript to protect against bias in the selection and edit process
o All pages should be numbered
o Follow AMA guidelines for references

AUTHOR AGREEMENT

In consideration of the review and publication of the work entitled “Work Title ________” (the “Work”) by the Pediatric Nutrition Practice Group (“DPG”) a dietetic practice group of Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, the undersigned (individually or collectively, “Writer”) agrees to the following:

1. The Writer(s) warrants that all parts of the Work are Writer’s original work, except that the authorship of any items or portions owned or authored by anyone other than the Writer shall be properly referenced or attributed and, that such items, except where permissible under the doctrine of fair use, shall be included only with the permission of the owner.

2. Writer acknowledges that DPG shall own all right, title and interest in and to the Work, and that Writer therefore assigns to DPG all right, title and interest in and to the Work, all revisions thereto, including the copyright, except as provided below. This includes without limitation, book editions, electronic versions, general publication, transcription, translations, sound version, video, or any other version or media now existing and/or later to be created for the full term of copyright, all renewals and extensions thereof throughout the world to DPG. Writer agrees to execute any documents necessary as requested by DPG to protect DPG and convey these rights. Notwithstanding the foregoing, Writer retains any and all rights to any ideas, concepts, theories, or subject matter contained or described in the Work, as well as to any text, charts or similar materials previously authored or published by Writer and licensed hereunder to DPG for use and publication as part of the Work.

3.    Writer further warrants that the Work does not violate the rights of any third party, including any existing copyright, and that it contains no defamatory matter. Writer agrees to hold harmless and indemnify DPG and AND, their members and staff from and against all liability, costs and expenses, including attorney’s fees, arising from breach of this warranty.
