  • Tasmania’s Premier Men’s and Women’s Senior A Grade Preseason Tournament

    This tournament provides coaches with a valuable opportunity to fine-tune their own game plans while also assessing multiple opposition teams ahead of the NWBU season opener.

    Please note: following feedback from clubs, the format has reverted to the original structure — 40-minute game time, a guaranteed three games, plus finals. (dependant on number of team entries)

     

    Friday 13 February: evening games, Saturday 14 February and possibility of Sunday 15 February, dependant on number of entries).


    Games held at the Ulverstone Sports and Leisure Centre: Flora Street, Ulverstone.

     

    Men’s and Women's Prize Money:
    WINNERS - $300
    RUNNERS UP - $150

    GRAND FINAL BEST PLAYER - $50

     

    Teams will be required to supply one bench person for each game except for Grand Finals. Score bench Chairs and Referees will be provided.

     

    DAILY DOOR CHARGES:
    Friday night: $2 everyone
    Sat/Sunday: All players/coaches/spectators to pay a daily door charge of $5.
    Children under 16 - $2 (excluding players).

    SOCIAL ROOM:
    Ulverstone Basketball Clubrooms will be open for refreshments throughout the tournament.

     

    Entry Fee of $200 to be provided on completion of team registration.

    Entries close 5pm, Monday 2 Febuary 2026. Tournament Draw will be emailed to the team's contact person and posted on social media - Ulverstone Basketball Association & Basketball Tasmania.

  • PLAYING CONDITIONS:

    1. 4 x 10 minute quarters
    2.  Clock stops on time-outs and foul shots and every whistle in the last 2 minutes when the score is less than 8 points. Teams are permitted 2 time-outs per half.
    3.  Clock will start at the nominated time and 4 points will be allocated to the opposition team for each minute the team is late. Half time declared a forfeit.
    4.  Warm-up of 3 minutes; 3-minute half time break.
    5.  Drawn games recorded as a draw. Extra time (3 minutes) grand finals only.
    6.  Four points for a win; 2 points for a loss and 3 points for a draw.
    7.  All players must play in at least 1 of the preliminary games to be eligible for the finals.
    8.  All teams to nominate their playing colour and a second strip (if required). Teams must be in full playing uniform prior commencement of the game. (Shorts and playing tops).
    9.  In the event state teams enter, special conditions will be advised to allow players to play with two teams. Players first responsibility will be to club/association team. State coaches/players are to liaise with club/association coaches regarding availability of players for games. State U/16 teams not eligible for entry.
