In the event of a violation of this Code of Conduct, corrective action will be taken, up to and including termination from Heed Health. Please sign this document to signify your understanding and compliance.

  • 1. Independent Contractor Agreement

    • Performance: The medic agrees to perform duties promptly and in compliance with Federal and State laws, Corporation policies, and regulations.
    • Relationship: Both the Corporation and the Consultant are independent contractors. Neither is an agent of the other, nor can bind the other to obligations. This Agreement does not establish an employer-employee relationship or any partnership.
    • Financial Responsibility: The Corporation is not liable for the Consultant's taxes or withholdings.
    • Indemnification: The Consultant will indemnify and hold harmless the Corporation against any claims or liabilities arising from the Consultant's actions.
    • Confidentiality: The Consultant agrees to keep Corporation information confidential during and after the Agreement. Upon termination, any confidential information must be returned to the Corporation.
    • Personal Insurance Responsibility: The Consultant acknowledges the existence of project-specific liability insurance provided by the Corporation. However, the Consultant is responsible for maintaining their own personal insurance coverage, including health and any other insurances deemed relevant to their services under this Agreement.

All shifts with Heed Health will be published into our scheduling app, Workstaff. You are responsible for maintaining your profile and availability in Workstaff. As shifts are published, you may claim as many as you’d like.

  • 3. Timesheets & Pay Schedule:

Per Diem:  All work is per-diem, we provide no guaranteed number of hours in any given time period. As long as you are an employee in good standing, we will offer you shifts.

Time Tracking: You must clock in and out for each shift via the Workstaff App in real time. It is your responsibility to clock in and out accurately so that you are paid correctly and on time.

Timesheet Approval: If you work beyond the originally scheduled hours, you must notify your Heed Event Coordinator of the reason for your extended shift. All extra reported hours are confirmed with clients prior to approval.

Warning: Falsifying a timesheet is immediate grounds for termination.

  • 4.  Attendance Policy

Shift Confirmation: By accepting a shift in Workstaff, you are confirmed to work and are responsible for arriving on time. Workstaff sends a notification 24 hours prior to each shift requiring you to confirm. We do not send additional text messages or make phone calls to confirm your shift.

Shift Cancellations: If you need to cancel a shift, you may do so in Workstaff. You are required to also send a message to your Heed representative. Your cancellation request must be approved by a Heed Event Coordinator. Shifts canceled with less than 24 hours' notice will result in one strike. Accumulating two strikes will lead to termination.

Punctuality: You are expected to arrive on time and ready to work. We strongly recommend arriving 10-15 minutes early prior to your assigned shift to allow time to park and make your way into the building. If you are running behind, you must call the onsite point of contact to inform them. If you are late and do not inform the onsite point of contact you will receive a strike.  Three strikes of this nature will result in termination.

No Call/No Show: Failing to show up for a shift without prior notice will result in an immediate and permanent removal from our team.

Shift Completion: Per diem staff are expected to fulfill their entire scheduled shift. Failure to complete an assigned shift without prior approval from a supervisor may result in non-payment for that shift. Exceptions may be made for documented emergencies or pre-approved schedule modifications. Such occurrences may also impact future scheduling opportunities.

  • 5. On-Site Conduct

Supplies: It is your responsibility to arrive with all the necessary supplies and equipment to perform your role effectively. If your medic kit is missing items essential to your job, inform the event coordinator promptly. Communicate any deficiencies well in advance to allow for restocks before the event begins.

Uniform: We expect you to look professional at all times. Your uniform should be tactical pants and a plain, neutral polo shirt. Heed Health EMT t-shirts may be sent for some events. If you receive a t-shirt you are expected to wear it to each shift.

Cell phones: In general, cell phone use is not permitted unless you are on a break. If you have an emergency and need to use your phone, alert the onsite supervisor. Unauthorized use of a cell phone, and other inattention during a shift could lead to complaints from the client and may result in your being ineligible for assignments.

Supervision and Direction: Though you are employed by Heed Health, the onsite point of contact should be considered your supervisor during your shift. We expect you to take direction from the supervisor as well as report any issues to them.

Medical Direction: If you need to speak with our Medical Director while on-site, contact the Event Coordinator in charge of that event immediately.
