    Admission Requirements:

    To be considered for admission with Essential Healthcare Academy a student must:

    • Complete the online registration and enrollment agreement.
    • Be at least 18 years of age, 16 for CNA Training.
    • High School Diploma or GED 2 forms of ID
    • Aptitude test
    • Additional documents such as a Physical, TB, and Background check may be needed. This is determined by the program enrolled in.

    Grading Policy: Students must pass the course with an average 80% or higher to take receive certificate of completion and take NHA or state exam.

    Grade Scale 

    Pass: 80% - 100%
    Not Pass: 79% or lower
    W: Withdraw within 1 week of start date
    D: Dropped due to academic or financial

    Graduation Requirements: Students will need to have a minimum of 80% to pass the course, scores are not rounded to the nearest whole percentage. Students who successfully complete the program will be awarded a Certificate of Completion and will be able to take exam through NHA or Ivy Tech Community College.

    Campus Security:

    Essential Healthcare Academy is committed to providing our students with a safe learning environment. Our facility is equipped with 24hr video surveillance and has an emergency action plan in place that is used to ensure the safety of all students and faculty members. We strive to provide our students with a safe learningenvironment that adheres to state and local laws.

    Unfair Business Practices: 

    It is an unfair business practice for the school to sell, discount, or otherwise transfer this contract or promissory note without the signed written consent of the student or his/her financial sponsors if he/she is aminor, and a written statement notifying all parties that the cancellation and refund policy continues to apply.

    Student Code of Conduct:

    It is the expectation of that all students admonish themselves to act with respect for others in the classroomand educational setting. At no time will students be allowed to utilize or display, threats, discrimination,racial slurs, bullying, and or any form of hate crimes related to sexual orientation in the classroom selves.Students and faculty are expected to abide by the rules and expectations of the school.

    At no point will it be okay to turn in work not of your own intellectual property. If a student is caughtcheating, the student will be asked to remove themselves from class and they will no longer be able to attendthe course due to this violation.

    If a student feels they have experienced any form of harassment from faculty and or staff, they can utilizethe grievance process to file a complaint and launch an investigation.

    Student Dress Code:

    Each student is to wear scrubs to class. No house shoes, pajamas, bonnets, or bandanas should be worn toclass or clinicals. All students must wear scrubs and an Essential Healthcare Academy name tag to clinicals.Failure to do so, will result in automatic dismissal from the program. A set of scrubs and name tag will beprovided at orientation to specific classes.

    Attendance Policy:

    Due to the accelerated classes taught at Essential Healthcare Academy, any student who miss 2 classes will be automatically dropped from the enrolled program.

    After 15 minutes you will be considered late to class. Any time after the initial 15 minutes will impact students learning ability and you will be considered as absent from class due to the amount of information that will be disseminated in each class session.

    It is the responsibility of the student to inform faculty and staff of any situations that may impeded their ability to attend class. Students are allowed 1 make up day, this will be coordinated with your instructor.

    Grievance Procedures:

    In the event of a conflict between staff, administrators, parent, or student the student complaint form is to be completed and turned in to the administrator. This form should be emailed to info@essentialhca.com. If the complaint is in relation to the administrator, the form is to be turned in to the program director. All complaints are to remain confidential, and no form of retaliation shall result. If a student is not satisfied with the outcome, they may file a formal complaint with The Indiana Commission for Higher Education/ The Indiana Board for Proprietary Education 101 West Ohio Street, Suite 300 Indianapolis, IN 46204-4206. https://www.in.gov/che/student-complaints/ 

    Withdrawal Policy:

    Withdrawal requests must be made in writing to Essential Healthcare Academy regarding the need for a student to withdraw/drop a class. The student will receive a "W" for the course. If a student experiences an extenuating circumstance, the student may arrange a meeting with the program director to discuss option for transferring to a different cohort. Once a student is withdrawn from a class, any funds paid toward that class are considered voided. As a result, the student account may reflect a past due balance, and a hold will be placed on the account. Before a student can re-enroll in a future class, the hold must be resolved by paying the past due balance in full.

    Financial Aid

    The Enrollment fee is due at registration and reserves a seat in class. The remaining tuition balance must be paid in weekly installments through the length of the course. Any student participating in an installment plan must complete the Payment Arrangement form. Tuition balance must be received in full to receive the certificate of completion and clearance to register for the national/state exam. We are partnered with several agencies throughout the state of Indiana that may be able to assist with funding via government grants. Students looking for assistance should contact those agencies directly. Their information can be found on our website at www.essentialhca.com.

    Essential Healthcare Academy does not participate in any federal and or state funded financial aid programs such as FAFSA.

    Essential Healthcare Academy accepts the following forms of payment:

    • Personal check ($50 fee for returned checks)
    • Cashier check
    • Money order
    • Cash

    Any loans taken out on the student's behalf to complete this course it the sole responsibility of the student to repay.

     

     

  • Refund Policy

    Institution’s Onsite Refund Policy
    The postsecondary educational institution shall pay a refund to the student in the amount calculated under the refund policy specified in this section or as otherwise approved by the Commission/Board.

    The institution must make the proper refund no later than thirty-one (31) days of the student's request for cancellation or withdrawal.

    (b) The following refund policy applies to each resident postsecondary educational institution, except as noted in:
    (1) A student is entitled to a full refund if one (1) or more of the following criteria are met:
    (A) The student cancels the institutional student contract or enrollment agreement within six (6) business days after signing.
    (B) The student does not meet the postsecondary educational institution's minimum admission requirements.
    (C) The student's enrollment was procured as a result of a misrepresentation in the written materials utilized by the postsecondary educational institution.
    (D) If the student has not visited the postsecondary educational institution prior to enrollment, and, upon touring the institution or attending the regularly scheduled orientation/classes, the student withdrew from the program within three (3) days.
    (2) A student withdrawing from an instructional program, after starting the instructional program at a postsecondary educational institution and attending one (1) week or less, is entitled to a refund of ninety percent (90%) of the cost
    of the financial obligation, less an application/enrollment fee of ten percent (10%) of the total tuition, not to exceed one hundred dollars ($100).
    (3) A student withdrawing from an instructional program, after attending more than one (1) week but equal to or less than twenty-five percent (25%) of the duration of the instructional program, is entitled to a refund of seventy-five
    percent (75%) of the cost of the financial obligation, less an application/enrollment fee of ten percent (10%) of the total tuition, not to exceed one hundred dollars ($100).
    (4) A student withdrawing from an instructional program, after attending more than twenty-five percent (25%) but equal to or less than fifty percent (50%) of the duration of the instructional program, is entitled to a refund of fifty
    percent (50%) of the cost of the financial obligation, less an application/enrollment fee of ten percent (10%) of the total tuition, not to exceed one hundred dollars ($100).
    (5) A student withdrawing from an instructional program, after attending more than fifty percent (50%) but equal to or less than sixty percent (60%) of the duration of the instructional program, is entitled to a refund of forty percent
    (40%) of the cost of the financial obligation, less an application/enrollment fee of ten percent (10%) of the total tuition, not to exceed one hundred dollars ($100).
    (6) A student withdrawing from an institutional program, after attending more than sixty percent (60%) of the duration of the instructional program, is not entitled to a refund.

  • Certified Nurse Aide (CNA)

    Course Objective: Prepares individuals desiring to work as nursing assistants with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes essential for providing basic care in extended care facilities, hospitals, and home health agencies under the direction of licensed nurses. Presents information on the health care system and employment opportunities at a variety of entry levels. Includes an overview of the health care delivery systems, health care teams and legal and ethical considerations. This course also includes training for use of protective personal equipment and infection control practices for the prevention of the spread of COVID-19. Individuals who successfully complete this course are eligible to apply to sit for the Indiana Department of Health (IDOH) certification exam for nursing assistants. This course meets the minimum standards set forth by the IDOH for Certified Nursing Assistant training.

    Course Description: 30 hours of classroom training and test preparation. 45 hours of clinical training. Total of 75 hours.

    Course Schedule: Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, 5:30 pm -10:30 pm Pre-requisite: 16 years or older, pass background check, pre-enrollment tests, physical, 2-step TB. Materials needed: Learning materials will be provided by Essential Healthcare Academy

    At the end of this course students should be able to:

    • Explain the role of the CNA as a member of the Interdisciplinary Team, the importance of adherence to the scope of practice and facility policies and procedures, the need for good customer service skills and professional qualities, and the necessity for compliance with HIPAA guidelines.
    • Explain the importance of Resident Rights
    • Explain the Nursing Assistant's responsibilities related to reporting and responding to incidentsof abuse, neglect, and misappropriation of resident property.
    • Explain the importance of hand hygiene in a healthcare facility and demonstrate the correct technique for effect hand washing.
    • Explain the importance of sanitary environment.
    • Explain prevention strategies and demonstrate the appropriate responses needed in emergency situations.
    • Correctly demonstrate how to perform Initial and final Steps when caring for resident, take and record resident's vital, measure and record resident's height and weight.
    • Explain the principles of good body mechanics and positions.
    • Explain how to safely transfer a resident using belt.
    • Demonstrate competence in dressing and toilet needs to the independent and dependent resident.
    • Explain the importance of bathing and demonstrate competence in assisting a resident to bath or shower.
    • Demonstrate competence in proper feeding techniques and aiding the resident with special nutritional and feeding needs.

  • Qualified Medication Aid (QMA)

    Course Objective: This course meets the minimum standards set forth by the IDOH for Qualified Medication Aide (QMA) training. The course provides students with the knowledge and skills needed to administer approved medications in long term care settings. Classroom instruction is provided, followed by clinical training that is supervised one on one by a licensed nurse. The most common medications in current use are discussed according to body systems, with emphasis on classification, uses, routes of administration, dosages, interactions incompatibilities, and side effects. Also addressed are communication, standard precautions, safety, residents' rights, documentation, scope of practice of the QMA, legal aspects and patient education. Individuals who successfully complete this course are eligible to apply for the Indiana Department of Health (IDOH) competency evaluation test for Qualified Medication Aides.

    This course includes the Insulin Administration Module provided by IDOH. The insulin class must be taken with the current class of enrollment. If a student does not attend the insulin class that is arranged with their class, the student must pay an additional $225.00 to register for a future insulin class. Insulin state exam fee is NOT included in tuition.

    Course Description: 60 hours of classroom training and test preparation. 40 hours of clinical training. Total of 100 hours.

    Course Schedule: Tuesday & Thursday, 9:00 am - 5:00 pm

    Pre-requisite: High School Diploma or GED, Verification of 1000 worked hours as CNA, CNA Certification, pass background check, pre-enrollment tests.

    Materials needed: Learning materials will be provided by Essential Healthcare Academy

    At the end of this course students should be able to:

    • Describe pertinent aspects of the roles and responsibilities of the QMA.
    • Describe legal and ethical issues associated with medication administration in long-term care. Identify basic principles of safe medication administration within the scope of scope of practice for the QMA.
    • Identify basic anatomic and physiologic characteristics of major body systems.
    • Describe pharmacologic effects of medications in major drug classifications.
    • Describe principles for documenting medication administration.
    • Describe pertinent observations to be reported to the licensed nurse.
    • Demonstrate mastery of psychomotor skills required for safe medication administration and treatments provided by the QMA.
    • Discuss the role and responsibility for insulin administration by both the QMA and licensed health facility.
    • Demonstrate competency in administration of medications and insulin, according to the approved ISDH guidelines.

  • Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA)

    Course Objective: Provides instruction in taking and recording vital signs, preparing patients for examination, patient education, and assisting the physician during the exam. The collecting and preparation of laboratory specimens and basic laboratory tests will be covered. Prepares for the administration of medication, venipuncture, EKG, and wound care. Provides a basic understanding of the clinical and administrative duties and responsibilities pertinent to medical offices. Includes instruction in medical correspondence and records, case histories of patients, filing, telephone procedures, appointment scheduling, receptionist duties, and processing mail. Written, verbal and nonverbal communications according to patient needs are covered as well as documentation and associated legal and ethical boundaries.

    Course Description: 76 hours of classroom training and test preparation. 80 hours of externship/clinical training. Total of 156 hours.

  • Licensing Requirements:

    A high school diploma or GED is required. Essential Healthcare Academy is partnered with National HealthCareer Association (NHA) and will be utilizing them for testing and certification. The student must pass NHA practice test 3 and 4 with a minimum 80% to register for the NHA exam. All NHA modules and quizzes must be completed. Must complete 80 externship hours to register for the NHA exam. Students must have the entire payment balance paid prior to registering for the NHA exam. The proctored exam consists of 180 questions with 3 hours testing time. Testing will take place at Essential Healthcare Academy.

  • Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT)

    Phlebotomy Course Objective: Prepare students to obtain Phlebotomy Technician Certification (CPT) skills to earn an industry-wide approved certification. Successful completion of this course will ensure quality care for patients, become certified through National HealthCareer Association (NHA).

    Course Description: 48 hours of classroom training and test preparation. 16 hours of externship/clinical training. Total of 64 hours.

    Course Schedule: Friday only, 9:00 am - 3:00 pm or Tuesday & Thursday, 6:00pm - 9:00pm.

    Pre-requisite: High School Diploma or GED

    Materials needed: Learning materials will be provided by Essential Healthcare Academy

    At the end of this course students should be able to:

    • Demonstrate knowledge of the health care delivery system and medical terminology
    • Demonstrate knowledge of infection control and safety
    • Comply with federal, state, and locally mandated regulations regarding safety.
    • Demonstrate basic understanding of the anatomy and physiology of body systems and anatomic terminology to relate major areas of the clinical laboratory to general pathologic conditions associated with the body systems.
    • Demonstrate the importance of sample collection and sample integrity in the delivery of patient
    • Demonstrate knowledge of collection equipment, various types of additives used, special precautions necessary, and substances that can interfere in clinical analysis of blood constituents.
    • Follow standard operating procedures to collect samples.
    • Demonstrate understanding of requisitioning, sample transport, and sample processing.
    • Demonstrate understanding of quality assurance and quality control in phlebotomy.

    Licensing Requirements:

    A high school diploma or GED is required. Certification is not required in the state of Indiana to work as a phlebotomist; however, facilities may require certification. Essential Healthcare Academy is partnered with National HealthCareer Association (NHA) and will be utilizing them for testing and certification. The proctored exam consists of 120 questions with 2 hours testing time. Testing will take place at Essential Healthcare Academy. Phlebotomy Technician certification must provide evidence of successfully performed minimum of thirty (30) venipunctures and ten (10) capillary or finger sticks on live individuals.
