The Battle of Flowers® (Texas)
Scholarship Recognizing Achievement in the Arts
Dating back to 1936, the Battle of Flowers® Association, in keeping with its mission to celebrate, commemorate and teach the history of Texas and San Antonio, began showcasing local high school bands and celebrating Texas history at a Band Festival, held the night before the Battle of Flowers® Parade. Bands from San Antonio and the surrounding communities present a spectacular show of talent involving thousands of students, who participate as Herald Trumpeters, Parade of Band performers, Feature Band musicians, and Massed Band Finale participants.
Over the years, the Battle of Flowers® Association has expanded its scope of service to the community through additional educational outreach initiatives, including a Program Cover Art Contest, an Essay Contest, and an Oratorical Contest.
To salute and encourage student participation and excellence in the Arts, the Battle of Flowers® is again sponsoring a Scholarship Program Recognizing Achievement in the Arts. Its awards will honor four (4) high school seniors, who are participating in the 2026 Battle of Flowers® Band Festival, with a $10,000 scholarship each towards college tuition. For the benefit of each scholarship recipient, these scholarships will be paid directly to the institution for tuition and related fees. Scholarships are non-renewable. In addition, these four (4) scholarship recipients will be recognized at the Band Festival on Thursday, April 23, 2026, and invited to be showcased on a Parade float on Friday, April 24, 2026.
