BS Center Woodworkers
  • Club Membership & Orientation Request

Start by completing the form below.
  • WELCOME!

The Bozeman Senior Center Woodworkers Club exists to provide a well-equipped shop for the enjoyment of members, to foster hobby type woodworking projects and experiences. A major reason for the existence of the Woodshop group is to promote fellowship and social activities for seniors.

Membership is open to all members of the Bozeman Senior Center and who have paid the Woodworker's annual fee, currently $20. All members are encouraged to attend monthly Woodworkers Club meetings. These are held the first Wednesday of each month from September thru May.

Individuals joining the club will first complete an orientation session to familiarize them with the Woodworker's Shop, equipment, and procedures. Anyone may also request an orientation, even if undecided on joining.

    • PLEASE REVIEW OUR USER'S OBLIGATIONS :

      ACCESS :
Member door access codes will not be shared. The workshop is not to be left unsecured (door propped open) and unattended. The last member to leave will insure that the dust collection system is off, turn off the lights, and be sure that the door is locked.

      SAFETY :
Members must know and follow the appropriate safety precautions in the proper use of each tool and machine. A shop and tool orientation is mandatory for new members. Afterwards, if necessary, they will call another woodworker for guidance.

Any and every accident must be reported to the Senior Center Front Desk as soon as possible. Any fire, however small, must be reported to the Senior Center Front Desk and the Bozeman City Fire Department immediately and those present in the workshop must stay until the Bozeman City Fire Department responds.

      DUST SUPPRESSION / CLEANUP :
Before operating a machine, members will assure that the appropriate dust gates are set. They will turn on the dust collector before operating the machine they wish to use. Before leaving, members will clean up their work area and put away the tools they have used.

      EQUIPMENT USE :
Inoperative, damaged, or equipment needing maintenance will be reported to a club officer or the club member responsible for maintaining that tool.

No tools will be taken from the shop for use anywhere else.

Members may NOT permit non-members to use any tools or equipment.

      FACILITY USE :
The facility is for the use of all members. Projects and personal property such as tools and clothing should not be left in the workshop. The exception is assemblies which can not be moved because of adhesives or finishes. Then, these items will be clearly tagged as to the owner and date, and will be removed as soon as practical.

Application of finishes, or other toxic or flammable materials or glue such as contact glues, to wood projects may not be done within the workshop or the Senior Center.

      COMMERCIAL USE :
The shop exists as a hobby facility only and it is not to be used for commercial purposes under any circumstances. ABSOLUTELY NO COMMERICAL USE IS PERMITTED in the Senior Center Woodshop. ("Commercial Use" here is interpreted to be: Any project intended for sale which involved Woodshop use for over 50% of its creation.)
