  • Tattoo Preparation

⚫️ Moisturize the tattoo area consistently for at least a week leading up to your appointment. (This helps the skin better take the ink during the time of tattooing). ⚫️ Make sure you EAT & SLEEP prior to your tattoo. This helps with pain mitigation. ⚫️ DO NOT SHAVE the desired area that you want tattooed to avoid razor burn. ⚫️ DRINK LOTS OF WATER before and during your tattoo appointment. ⚫️ Give yourself time before arriving for your appointment to shower. It’s important to be clean during the tattoo process because people often sweat during the tattoos and it’s good to be clean and feeling fresh. ⚫️ Wear the appropriate clothing for the area that you’re getting tattooed. ⚫️ Feel free to bring any snacks or drinks you like.
  • Tattoo After Care

⚫️ Keep your tattoo covered for at least 12 hours (it’s always best to leave whatever bandage you receive, plastic wrap or second skin on overnight). ⚫️ Wash your hands then wash your tattoo with warm/hot water & mild natural soaps. Make sure the soap you use DOES NOT CONTAIN PERFUMES. Gently scrub the tattoo with your finger tips until all the plasma and sticky residue is gone. Rinse your tattoo with COLD WATER & pat your tattoo dry with a clean paper towel. DO NOT DRY WITH TOWEL when first cleaning the area after the bandage has been taken off. Towels have bacteria in them that can cause irritation. ⚫️ After 72 HOURS you may gently apply a small amount of unscented cream to the tattoo once or twice a day until the scabs have fallen off on their own. ***IMPORTANT REMINDERS ABOUT HEALING TATTOOS*** ⚫️ Shower as normal and wash your tattoo but do not soak. Avoid baths, swimming, saunas, hot tubs, and above all the ocean. ⚫️ DO NOT expose your tattoo to direct sunlight and always use sunscreen after it is fully healed. Use material to cover the tattoo if being exposed to sunlight during the first 2 weeks of the healing process. ⚫️ DO NOT pick the scabs as this will cause the ink to fall out, and will cause the tattoo to heal in an inconsistent way. ⚫️ DO NOT go to the gym or get overly sweaty until your tattoo is fully healed.
  • Second Skin Bandage After Care

⚫️ Keep the second skin bandage on for anywhere from 4-7 days. ⚫️ AVOID going to the gym or getting overly sweaty while the bandage is on. ***NO SAUNAS / NO BATHS / NO HOT TUBS / NO SWIMMING*** ⚫️ Plasma will leak out during the time of having the bandage on that is very normal. If it begins to leak out of the side of the bandage contact your tattoo artist and figure out if you need another bandage or if your able to take the bandage off and begin your healing process without the second skin. ⚫️ If irritation happens during the time of your having the bandage on, remove second skin and begin your healing process without the second skin. Some people with sensitive skin can have reactions (a small rash or redness of the skin can form around the outside edge of the second skin). If you think this is happening contact your tattoo artist and inquire if it’s normal or if you should take the bandage off and begin your healing process. ⚫️ Try to keep the second skin on for the appropriate amount of time, if you take it off too early this can cause the adhesive of the bandage to be left on the skin. ⚫️ If the adhesive from the second skin is left behind, use non scented soap to try and remove the adhesive without causing irritation to the tattoo. ⚫️ Most pharmacies carry generic brands of second skin if your unable to acquire another bandage from your tattoo artist. If you get tattooed often it’s sometimes good to have some at home. Derm Sheild is a great bandage product your can order off the internet and is also good to have for minor cuts and scrapes. ⚫️ YOU CAN shower with second skin on, just avoid having it in the direction stream of the shower. Avoid getting any shower water underneath the bandage. ⚫️ When removing the bandage, grab the corner and pull away from the tattoo, do not pull across the tattoo as this can hurt more and cause irritation. ⚫️ Take Second skin off in the shower, 10 minutes into showering so your body is warm. This will cause the bandage to come off in an easier manner.
