Our Veterinary Technician Externship program reflects our commitment to driving positive change within the veterinary industry. This program was honored with the Award of Clinical Externship Excellence from the Association of Veterinary Technician Educators in July of 2024.

We believe your dedication to the field is deserving of an exceptional opportunity, and as such, we invite you to take part in shaping the future of the veterinary profession through our paid externship. Acceptance to AEC’s Veterinary Technician Externship program is highly competitive. Chosen applicants are invited to apply their knowledge and hone their skills in a supportive learning environment under the guidance of experienced mentors.

Students admitted to the Veterinary Technician Externship program are considered team members for the duration of their externship. As representatives of AEC, program participants commit to demonstrating personal accountability in all actions, providing outstanding patient care, and embracing every learning opportunity provided to them. Externship students are expected to uphold the same standards of conduct and to practice at the same level of excellence as every member of the AEC team.

This application contains several short response questions. These questions are an opportunity for the applicant to share their individual perspectives and insights, not a test with one correct answer. Strong application answers will draw on the applicant's own voice and experiences. During the review process, all submissions for program admission are screened for the use of non-original content, including answers generated by AI and/or plagiarism. Application responses which are flagged for inclusion of non-original content will negatively impact the chances of an applicant's acceptance into the program.
