  •  We are excited to see you at Voxman Music Building (93 E. Burlington Street, Iowa City) at the University of Iowa in Iowa City, Iowa for our MWR Regional Conference sponsored by the Midwest Region of AMTA,

    March 20-23, 2025

    Your registration includes a reception with dinner at West Music Fulfillment Center on Friday, March 21, and a catered lunch on Saturday, March 22 at the Hilton Garden Inn. Additionally, there are 30 concurrent sessions and 9 CMTE opportunities!

    EARLY BIRD REGISTRATION ENDS: February 28, 2025 at 11:59 pm 

    All registration rates will increase $25 on March 1st.

                    CMTE A (5 Hours): Clinical Improvisation for Guitar: Creating musical resources for clients and cliniciansThursday, March 20, 2025, 12:00 - 5:00 PM, Peter Meyer, MA, MT-BC. Many music therapists use the guitar as their principal instrument in their work.  However, using the guitar as a primary improvisatory instrument can be difficult. This CMTE will provide the participants with the skills to create extemporaneously create melodic and harmonic experiences for both the therapist and the client.

                    CMTE C (5 Hours): Neurologic Strategies for Speech/Language for Individuals with Developmental and Neurodevelopmental Challenges Friday, March 21, 2025, 7:00 AM - 12:00 PM, Julie Guy, MM, MT-BC, and Angela Meier, MM, MT-BC. This interactive workshop will present a variety of strategies that have been effective in teaching speech and language skills for individuals diagnosed with developmental and neurodevelopmental challenges. Adaptations for a variety of ages and settings (children, adolescents, adults, group homes, individual sessions, community groups, etc.) will be presented.

                    CMTE 3 (3 Hours): Electric Guitar Workshop: Maximizing Technique and Equipment for Therapeutic Spaces Sunday, March 23, 2025, 12:00 - 3:00 PM, Luke Sanders, MM. The electric guitar is a primary instrument in pop, rock, blues, and country music. This course covers electric guitar equipment and techniques such as looping, power chords, improvisation, and blues riffs with guided instruction for all levels of experience. Bring your own or use an available electric guitar.

                    CMTE 4 (3 Hours): This is Your Brain on Music: The Neuroscience of Self-Regulation Sunday, March 23, 2025, 12:00 - 3:00 PM, Alyssa Stone, MM, MT-BC, CYT 500. Self-regulation and sensory regulation are buzzwords in therapy. While buzzwords come and go, the diverse regulation needs of the people we support are here to stay. In this 3-hour CMTE, attendees will learn the neuroscience behind regulation and explore strategies to provide effective support using a brain-body approach to regulation.
