This is an introductory level Eco-Somatic training for all master's level mental health professionals, incorporating trauma-focused theory and therapy, somatics, and ecotherapy-supporting therapists in learning to embody connection to mind, body and Earth in sessions to support trauma-informed practice. This training is not a comprehensive training in trauma or eco-somatics.
Earth is the largest, most accessible and most forgotten of all coregulators. Earth holds us, supports us, nourishes us. Through cultivating an honest and reciprocol relationship with Earth, we can experience coregulation. Eco-Somatics invites us to ask ourselves: what if we viewed Earth as an extension of our bodies? In Ecotherapy circles and indigenous communities this is known as the Earth-Body or Ecological Self.
This training will provide therapists with information about an Eco-Somatic approach to in trauma-informed therapy, with focus on supporting the clients window of tolerance, dual awareness and overall healing. We will hone in on resourcing/stabilization, supporting you in advancing your ability to prepare clients for trauma reprocessing work.
This training incorporates an intersectional lens, bringing together ecopsychology, somatic psychology, decolonization, social justice, and EMDR. It is our view that we cannot create a reciprocol relationship with mind, body and Earth without the inclusion of this lens, and therefore it is an important part of the training.
