Please do not apply if you have not discussed this, in-depth with everyone in the home. These dogs come from extremely horrific conditions, often starved, abused, and neglected so they need very patient and loving homes to foster them while they wait for their forever families. We remind you that we are in the business of rehabilitating animals, not prioritizing human preferences or expectations in their new pet. We are not an adoption center, we are a rescue which means we are looking for homes to restore these animals which means our dogs can stay in foster homes for several months as we like to take our time finding the best home possible for them. You must also understand the workload and commitment needed for a dog rescued from the meat trade. These dogs are not domesticated pets as many expect them to be and we do not promise behavior, demeanor, energy levels, relationships with children, other pets, training, or much of anything because there are too many factors out of our control that need to be managed by the homes they enter. Ultimately, it comes down to you. What you give these dogs you will get back times 100. Are you prepared for making this process about their rehabilitation and restoration and not you? Please talk with your entire household to ensure everyone is on the same page with our mission and how we work. If not, please come back and apply once you are ready! Why do you want to foster instead of adopting?* This field is required. Bunny's Buddies dogs are not the typical dogs you would find in local shelters as these dogs have experienced severe betrayal, starvation, possible abuse, and extreme neglect. This will include, at minimum, potty training, basic training, patience, socialization, leadership, and, of course, unconditional love. Please explain why you'd like to foster a Bunny's Buddies dog instead of just adopting one!

Do you understand the difference between adoption and rehabilitation?* This field is required. Bunny's Buddies is not your traditional adoption center where people come to pick out a new family pet. Our dogs are not yet pets. All of our dogs need rehabilitation and reintegration into living in a home as a domesticated pet as most have never had a home before and have no experience living in one. Do you understand the difference between dogs you may have grown up with and rehabilitating and restoring a broken animal? Please share your thoughts on what the foster process means to you.

Do you have any time limitations?* This field is required. To foster with us, we do require a long term commitment as it can take us a few weeks to months to find our dogs the perfect homes. Because they have endured so much, we like to take our time to get things right. We meticulously screen applications to make sure everyone is ready for the adoption process which can take time. Do you have any vacations or plans coming up that will interfere with your fostering journey? Please list out any and all commitments you have planned this year.

Do you understand why we cannot guarantee our dog's relationships with other dogs, cats & children?* This field is required. Many people ask us if our dogs are good with dogs, cats or kids. While we do get notes on our dogs' traits, because they can suppress behavioral issues while in group settings and because all animal relationships are dependent on their environment and the behavior of the other animals involved, it is unethical for us to promise our dogs will get along with and/or like your current pets or children. These dogs are not exposed to cats or children so we do rely on our homes 100% to manage the safety of everyone in the home by taking things slowly. All relationships, whether it be with your current pets or kids MUST be monitored and managed by you at all times. Additionally, even dogs that we note as friendly to other dogs may not like your dog and may need additional time to formulate a bond with them. All of our foster homes must be prepared to manage the relationships until everyone settles in and establishes trust. With that being said, we NEVER place a knowingly aggressive dog into a home, however, that does not guarantee the dog cannot become reactive at any point whether from a breeder or rescue. Do you fully understand why we cannot promise any animal's behavior as it is reliant on the steps you and your home will take? Please explain why or why not!

Can you follow strict directions?* This field is required.We have a very strict fostering process that we require our fosters follow to ensure the dogs, you and your pets all stay very safe. Some people think it is overkill or too controlling but it is critical to everyone's success and we have to trust that our foster families can follow our process 100%! Can you promise to follow any and all protocols we request?

Are you able to take the dog to the vet?* This field is required. All of our foster dog's costs are covered by us 100% but they often need to get to the vet or appointments. Are you able to offer this to a dog in need? Why or why not?

What is your current work schedule?* This field is required. Please let us know your current work schedule now and long term. Are you working from home? If so, when will you return back to the office? Please share everyone in the home's schedules!

Do you have other pets?* This field is required. Please tell us all about your pets at home! Please share each sex, age, breed and personality! If so, how do they respond to new furry friends!? Are there any sizes, breeds or sexes they do not like? Please tell us all about your pet below!

Does your home have a fenced in yard?* This field is required.We do not require this but we do like to better understand the environment.

Can you work from home for the first month or so? * This field is required. Making sure your new foster has proper support upon arrival is key. Having someone home with them, for the first few months, is essential to help them feel comfortable in their new space. Are you or someone else in the home able to be home 95% of the time, for a few months to help the new dog settle in? This is required. Please DO NOT APPLY if you work outside of the home. This is not flexible. Please explain who would be home with the dog the first 1-2 months below. Dog walkers or sitters are not accepted. It must be someone living in the home.

Will you be able to take off 1 week of work?* This field is required. Because our dogs are experiencing so many new things for the first time ever, having support the first few weeks is really key and too hard to manage while working on other commitments. Will you be able to take time, completely off, work to help the dog settle in? This is in addition to working from home. How much time off could you take? Please do not apply if you cannot take time off work. This is NOT flexible.

How many hours per day will the dog be left alone?As you can imagine, your new dog will not know how to live in a home without some guidance from you. Being home as much as possible for the first few months is key. Please let us know how many hours, per day, the new dog would have to be left alone!

Do you rent or own your home?* This field is required. If you rent, has your landlord approved the home for a dog? Proof of landlord's approval required for fostering. We will need a formal document or email proving you can add an additional pet to your home. Please do not apply until you have proof of approval ready to submit along with this.

Does anyone in the home have allergies or asthma?* This field is required. If so, please explain what they are allergic to and how they manage it.

Who lives in your home currently?* This field is required. Please tell us everyone that lives in your home and how they feel about adopting a new dog! Please do NOT apply until everyone is 100% on board and understands our process fully. Please also tell us a bit about any current pets!

What are your exercise plans for the dog?* This field is required.

Have you ever fostered a dog before?* This field is required. Fostering can be hard work! Have you fostered a dog before? If so, how did it go? Are you truly prepared for the adjustment period of bringing a new foster dog home? Sleepless nights, potty training, jet lag, training in general, etc. while managing your current commitments/career?

What would you do if the dog bit you?* This field is required. All dogs, rescued or not, can guard resources like toys, affection or food, especially if they have never had it regularly before you. What would you do if you or your current dog went to grab a toy from your foster dog and was bit? Please explain how you would prevent this AND how you would handle this IF it were to happen.

Consistent with Bunny’s Buddies’ mission of placing our rescued animals in loving homes that can best care for all aspects of these animals and their unique issues, Bunny’s Buddies does not match all of our foster applicants with dogs, even applicants that are otherwise qualified to foster one of our dogs. Among other things, although Bunny’s Buddies tries to save as many dogs as we can, Bunny’s Buddies receives many more applicants than dogs that we are able to rescue. Bunny’s Buddies’ application process is substantial, often involving many rounds of follow-up questions, and potentially will focus on whether an applicant is a match for a specific dog. But even for applicants who Bunny’s Buddies determine are qualified, Bunny’s Buddies simply cannot match all of its applicants with dogs. Further, you understand that even if you are to be matched with a dog, Bunny’s Buddies requires continued communication from its selected homes, which requires a commitment to a working relationship with Bunny’s Buddies, its employees, and its agents. Even for applicants who have prior experience caring for, fostering and/or rescuing dogs, Bunny’s Buddies still may determine you are not qualified or otherwise appropriate to foster a dog from Bunny’s Buddies for any number of reasons, including that these dogs have unique backgrounds, issues, and care needs. Bunny’s Buddies understands that this can be upsetting for applicants who have their hopes set on fostering a dog through our organization. We truly apologize for that and express our gratitude for Your support of our mission. By filling out this application, You agree that You understand that Bunny’s Buddies’ application process is substantial, that Your application may not be accepted, and that You may not be matched with a foster dog even if Bunny’s Buddies determines that You are qualified. You agree that if you are matched with a foster dog, you will be prepared to continue communicating with Bunny’s Buddies, its employees, and its agents about your matched rescue dog. In addition, You agree that You will not disparage, directly or indirectly, or otherwise take any action that could reasonably be expected to adversely affect the personal or business reputations of Bunny’s Buddies or any of our employees or agents. This prohibition expressly includes but is not limited to, internet posts that seek to portray Bunny’s Buddies or any of our employees or agents in a negative light. You further agree that it may be impossible or impractical to fix the actual damages suffered by breach of this clause, and therefore agree that $5,000 shall be presumed to be the minimum amount of damages by reason of each such breach that is found to have occurred. By way of example, three separate internet posts that violate this provision equates to $15,000 of presumed minimum damages. You also agree that the substantially prevailing party in any action to interpret or enforce the terms of this clause, shall be entitled to recover its reasonable attorney’s fees and costs from the other party.
