  • We are seeking registrants for the newly formed Registration and Competence Committee, which combines the responsibilities of the former Registration and Competence Committees. This is a meaningful opportunity to support public protection, contribute to the regulation of your profession, and enhance your own professional growth.

    About the Committee
    The Registration and Competence Committee is responsible for:

    • Reviewing applications for registration and reinstatement that are referred by the Registrar
    • Monitoring registrants’ compliance with the Continuing Competence Program (CCP)
    • Participating in an annual CCP audit
    • Contributing to ongoing improvements in registration and competence assessment processes
    • Committee terms are three years, renewable once and will begin on July 1, 2025

  • Eligibility for Appointment to a Committee
    To be eligible for appointment to the committee, a person must:

    1. Be a registrant on the general register of the College;
    2. Have no fees, costs, fines, levies, or any other sums owing to the College;
    3. Have a valid and current practice permit that is not currently suspended.

  • To be eligible for appointment to the Committee, a person must not:

    1. Have been formally charged with unprofessional conduct that has not yet been determined by a hearing tribunal;
    2. Have been found guilty of unprofessional conduct within the preceding five years;
    3. Have been found guilty of unprofessional conduct related to sexual abuse, sexual misconduct or any sexual boundary violation at any time in any jurisdiction including outside of Canada;
    4. Be currently subject to an order or direction made pursuant to the Health Professions Act that has not been discharged;
    5. Be currently taking legal action against the College or completed legal action against the College within the preceding two Committee terms* before the date of applying;
    6. Be employed by the College or have been employed by the College within the preceding two Committee terms*;
    7. Hold federal, provincial, or local government office; or
    8. Be an officer or senior employee of a professional association or a labour union that represents members of a regulated profession.

    * A Committee term is up to three years. Two Committee terms is up to six years.
